The Night In Cabin Six

Cabinmates

Minx's POV: 

I sat on my bunk for a while. I was sad that I didn't get to be in Puffy's cabin. She became my friend two hours ago but I already missed her. We sat on that bus for 3 hours and we only said about 20 words to each other but I still missed her. Below me, I heard the popular girls talking about the play. We were doing Miracle at Midnight. All the girls wanted the main role. I looked at my watch and saw it was 9pm. I shut my light off and went to bed. 

I could not sleep. It was 10:30pm and I looked down my bunk and seeing the girls below me asleep. I threw on my coat and went out the door. I forgot my snow boots. The snow was freezing my feet so I made a run for it. Then I stopped. I didn't know what cabin Puffy was in. I was standing there in the dark, with half my leg covered in snow. Then I heard something. I pulled out my pocket knife, (which I wasn't supposed to have) and turned around. It was something walking towards me. "Minx, don't talk." It was Puffy. She grabbed my hand and ran back to her dorm. "Puffy?" I said, with shivers in my voice. "WTF were you doing out in the snow? It's like 10 degrees out there." I couldn't get words out of my mouth because I was so cold. She lit a candle and put it by me to warm me up. "I'm sorry. I couldn't sleep so I wanted to look for you." She looked down then looked back up at me. "It's late. Go back to your cabin.", "But I can't sleep." I climbed down the ladder and she sighed. I stood there on her floor. "Just try. I'll see you at rehearsal tomorrow." She told me. I blew out her candle and opened the door. "Can I walk you back?" She asked. "No. You look warm." 

As I opened my cabin door I saw the three other girls standing right there. "Seeing a boy?" One of them asked. "No, actually I just saw one of my frien-" She hit my jaw. I felt the anger in my head before I even felt the pain. They laughed at me calling me weak. I stood up and grabbed the sharp wood carving knife out of my pocket. I was about to do it, but I felt someone grab my arm. I looked behind me thinking it was one of the girls friends so I immediately cut their hand that was grabbing onto my wrist. It wasn't. It was Puffy. I filled with fear as I dropped my knife to the ground. "PUFFY! I CUT YOU-" She covered my mouth with her other hand and shut the door. She got the knife and 𝘴𝘭𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘪𝘧𝘦 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘥. She told me to go on my bed and she hid in the bathroom. The other girls got what we were doing so they crawled on their beds except for the one I was about to kill. She stood there and looked at me. "GET ON YOUR BED!" Puffy tried to yell while still keeping quiet. She grabbed her foot and put her into the bathroom with her and shut the door. The staff opened our door to see 3 girls in their beds. "Where is Kacey?" All of us still tried to act asleep. The staff member went up to my bed and grabbed on my shirt. "I will give you three seconds to tell me where she is." I snapped my eyes open and looked confused. She nodded and walked out. I knew she saw the blood on the floor. I would have told her about Kacey, but Puffy was in the room with her so they'd find Puffy too. Once she left I ran into the bathroom and pushed Kacey away from Puffy. I got on the floor and looked at her hand. There was a big cut from her palm to her mid- arm. "Puffy I am so sorry. I didn't think it was you." She couldn't speak. She looked so disappointed. "What were you dong trying to kill a girl at 11pm?" I started to cry but tried to keep it back. "They were trying to hurt me.", "When I saw you walk away from my cabin I went with you to make sure you were ok. When I heard you mumble, I opened the door and saw you holding a pocket knife 3 inches from Kacey's stomach." She told me. I am so lucky she went after me, I would've killed Kacey. I saw QT and Hannah walk into the room. "Kacey are you ok?" QT asked and made sure there wasn't any blood on her. Which there wasn't, and she was being completely ignorant  of  Puffy's cut on her arm. Puffy gave her a dirty look and stood up. I bandaged her arm and I let her stay the night. 

The next morning it was me, QT, Kacey and Hannah eating together. I saw a bandage on Kacey. She was obviously faking it since I didn't even touch her. I looked over to the bench on the other side of the eating park and saw Puffy eating alone. I stared at her wrist in guilt. "See ya, I'm ditching."  I grabbed my food and sat at her bench. "Hi Puffy." She took another bite of her sandwich. We both sat silently, the same as we were on the bus. On the bus, I noticed she was looking at my leather jacket, so I put it around her and walked to the lake.
