Running would have been easy, had the Dark Orca not grappled the octopi like submarine that floated above the water. Not that Alpheus would run, he was hellbent on proving himself right. Because he hated being wrong.
"How long you gonna keep this up Al?" Antaeus asked almost smugly at his arch nemesis' predicament. Alpheus growled as he glared at the Aronax.
"Until you see the truth. These people are from Lemuria!" He declared wildly.
"You 'think their mermaids', we know, you've told us." Fontaine responded with an eyeroll.
"Their mermaids!" Mad Madeline exclaimed. Alpheus could hear the excitement in the pirate's voice and took advantage of it.
"Yes, and if you help me, you could fetch a hefty price for the corpses." He grinned, sinisterly.
"That is not happening!" Kaiko shouted out, shooting a grapple at the maniac and his captives, "Mermaids or not."
"And we owe the Nektons a debt, so we won't be siding with you anyway." Finn added before his father could think about the money.
"Fine," Alpheus rose his head high, defiant. "But you'll regret that."
And the long-anticipated action begun, Ant, Fontaine and Will shot out in their representative Knights, while Finn and Mad Madeline emerged in their scrap version of the Rover. Ready to strike and to get the three girls to safety.
Antaeus was the first to strike Alpheus, love tapping the side of the boat to try and knock him off it. He stumbled but regained his footing. Fontaine snuck around with the scrap Rover to try and free the girls, her bigger knight there for protection. A not quite anticipated strike from one of A.R.I.A.'s tentacles. Grabbing ahold of Fontaine's Knight and throwing her around, like a ragdoll, all the while crushing her as much as possible.
"Ugh, systems are failing! It's crushing me!" Fontaine shouted, fear slipping out in her desperation.
"Get out of there, Fontaine!" Will ordered as he swam up to help, avoiding a tentacle aiming for Finn and Madeline.
"I am!" She shouted back before putting her breathing mask on and unlocking the hatch. She climbed out and swam by as Will kept A.R.I.A distracted.
The scrap Rover made its way over to Fontaine letting her in once it emerged, taking off her mask she let out a sigh of relief. Finn turned to her, worrisome. The look asked if she was ok, to which she responded with a nod, passing a glance at Madeline, she was unaware. Her eyes seemed to be clued onto Ant and Alpheus.
The two stood on the boat, in the freezing climate, they were facing one another, neither talking. The stare off continued as the captives shivered. Ant look at them, brushing a small trinket on his belt, a Lemurian one.
"Don't you have the same questions as me Antaeus?" Alpheus asked slowly, taking a few steps forward. "Haven't you wondered what they are." He gestured to Alexi, Mia, and Cordelia.
"People?" Ant asked rhetorically, arching a brow to add sass. "Look, it doesn't matter what or who they are, risking their lives to prove a point is too extreme, way too extreme."
