I walk to school proud to be Carlos's girl. I remember several years ago I was waiting for this day to happen. I don't know. I might postpone my day for my escape. I mean Carlos still needs to get better and so does Jake. He is probably still sleeping so I need to visit him after.

I wish Carlos were here to cheer me on. The ceremony starts and the principal calls people name by name and they finally they say " Hope Parker."

I walk up and get my diploma. All the others girls struggled to go up the steps because they wore heels they could barely walk in. I wore teal converse and a floral blue dress. At the end, I realize that they skipped Carlos. They probably know he got poisoned and that he wasn't going to be at graduation.

Everybody around me is acting like they just won freedom. People that hate me are hugging me like I knew them since they were little. I can't believe I just graduated. I am so happy but I have no one to celebrate it with.

I start walking to the hospital. I'm not allowed to see Carlos but I am allowed to see Jake. He probably just woke up from a long nap.

I walk inside the hospital and go to Jake's room. He still looks in the same condition as usual. A nurse is feeding him some disgusting looking vegetables.

" Come on Jake eat." the nurse says.

" No. I refuse to eat it"  he says. That made me laugh. Jake was always so picky with his food but I was different. He hated vegetables. I ate anything. Maybe I would even eat a bear. I wonder what a bear tastes like. The thought made my stomach grumble. They both turn to face me.

" I can't do this anymore. You may take him out to eat" she says.

" I thought he wasn't allowed to leave this place" I say.

She puts her pointer finger over her lip and says " shhh" and walks away.

I walk towards Jake and say" Good news, Jake. We're going out to eat."
