Rose was laying in a hospital bed reading a magazine. She put the magazine down and sighed. She didn't feel any pain, but she couldn't move or she will feel it. The doctor walked in.

"How are you doing Rose?" she asked.

Rose shifted a little. "Okay I guess."

"Good. Now there are some visitors waiting to see you."

Dr. Ligard let the visitors in. Jade and Hannah ran towards Rose and started touching her face.

"Oh Rose, we thought you died," Jade cried.

"We didn't want to lose our best friend," cried Hannah.

"We're so glad you survived," said Fiona.

"Thanks guys, I though I was gonna have to go to Goldenpack for a moment..." She trailed off when she saw Max.

Her friends looked between the two.

"Oh, we'll give some privacy," said Jade.

They left leaving Rose and Max alone together. He went over and hugged her gently.

"I thought you were gonna die," he said with his voice quivering with emotion.

She deepened her embrace. "I didn't want to leave you."

He holds her tighter. "I thought I lost you." He said it in a whisper.
"It's ok, I'll get through it."

"Rose, I love you."

"I love you too, Max."

He pulled away. "I guess you have to have therapy too."

She wiggled her toes under the
covers. "Yeah, but who's gonna be my nurse?"

"You're looking at him."

"You?!"

He smiled. "I guess I have to return the favor."

Later that day Rose was released from the hospital. The next day she started her first therapy session.

"Ok...how am I supposed to do this," Max muttered to himself.
Rose picked up a weight and started to lift it. "Coach me on how to build up my strength."

"Ok..."

For the rest of the day, Max
coached Rose on building her strength and building back up her speed.

It was a year later, and Rose was well enough to train again. Sadly, General Legon was killed in battle, so they had a new general, General Salen. He saw her and smile. "Glad to have you back." His blue eyes twinkled. Rose took his hand.

"Thank you sir."

Max took her towards a corner where everyone wouldn't hear. "I didn't like the way he was trying to flirt with you."

"Max, he was just being nice," she responded.

"I don't care." He crossed his arms and pouted.

Rose giggled and turned his head towards hers. "You're cute when you're jealous."

He smiled, and they leaned forward and kissed each other.

Everyone who saw it was whistling and cheering.
Rose never felt this safe in years.
