Ivory fell asleep with the light on last night, due to her reading all night. She slipped out of bed the next morning, and got dressed for work, turning the light in her bedroom off as she left the room. She heard whispering the second she closed the door. Ivory opened the door, and it stopped. She shrugged, and shut the door again.
Ivory grabbed her drawing tablet for work, along with her newest pen, and took out the front door. She reached work, and her best friend, Gray Wood, walked up to her. "Hey Ivy!" He said, in his upbeat and cheerful voice. He pat her on the back and said, "How are you this morning?" Ivory continued walking to her desk, placing her stuff down.
"I honestly have no idea, Gray." She said calmly. He knit his brows together, raising one. Ivory sighed. "Gray, I feel like something at my house is watching me in the shadows." "What is that even supposed to mean?" Gray replied, bewildered. Ivory's hand shook, and she sat down. "I mean, there's someone or something watching me. At my house that is. And only in the dark." She said this, averting her eyes from Gray's dark green ones, and staring at the floor. She probably sounded insane to him.
After about five minutes of quiet, Gray responded, placing his heavy hand on her shoulder. "Hey, I don't think there's something there. It's probably just the air." Ivory shook her head furiously, swiping his hand off her shoulder. "You don't get it! There's whispering. This morning I turned the lights off and shut my bedroom door, and there they were. I reopened the door, and they were gone the second the light from the hall shone in. Something is watching me, Gray."
He stood in silence for a few moments, before he responded. "Yeah, actually, something might be watching you. My mother had experiences like this after my grandmother died. Did anyone in your family die recently?" Ivory shook her head again. "Not recently, no. Years ago though." He furrowed his eyebrows together, and placed his hand on his neck, rubbing at it. He did this whenever he was thinking. "I honestly have no idea what to tell you, Ivy." He sighed, letting his hand fall back down to his side. "Hey, uh, when did you lose whoever it was?" Ivory looked back up at him from the floor, staring him deadpan in the eyes. "When I was seven."
