As Echo watched the chain was pulled, the rest of the crew was rushing around, and the deck was shaking. Echo, being the 4 year old she was, was curious on what was on the other ship.

She decided to not go, but she still had her curiosity. She looked over at her Pa (Shanks) and he had the most calm expression on his face.

She decided that she would stay calm too. "Echo, go get me my sword!" She raced to his room and grabbed it. It felt good in her hand and she felt that she would like swords too in the future.

As the Marine ship was getting closer, she watched as Shanks pried out the harpoon and they started full speed away from the ship. She then heard a cannon. A cannonball hit near where the ship was and Echo toppled over.

She watched as Yassop started to snipe the ship, landing perfectly each time. Soon the ship had stopped following them and Shanks cheered.

Time skip: 3 years

Echo was now around 7. And she had seen more then most adults had seen in their lifetime. She now had short, fluffy black hair, had gray-green eyes, and was still pretty short.

They had docked at another island because their ship was badly damaged and they needed to stay here for about a month or so. She was jittery from not being on land for a while, so she was excited.

Shanks had put his straw hat on and they were walking through town, as normal people do. Echo had small scars here and there that wouldn't fade. She was self conscious about this so she always wore a jacket. Not a think one, just a thin one to cover her arms

As they walked through town she saw a young boy, about her age admiring Shanks. He had black, rowdy hair and was wearing a short sleeve t-shirt and shorts.

When Shanks walked into a local bar with her and his crew, the boy followed them. Echo sat on a barstool, drinking pomegranate juice (it was her favorite fruit.)

They boy asked Shanks a lot of questions, like what's life like as a pirate, those kind of questions. Echo figured out the boys name was Luffy.

She had a lot in common with the boy. Luffy then stood on the bar. "I wanna be a pirate too!" Shanks laughed. "Sorry buddy. Cant let you join! I don't think your tough enough!" Luffy frowned. "But my punches are stronger then pistols!"

Echo smiled. She hadn't met kids her own age. She didn't know they would be this.....pushy.....

Echo decided to meet this kid. "Hey! Wanna go outside? I'm a bit bored." She said to Luffy.

Luffys eyes lit up and he raced outside. She followed suit. Shanks smiled as he watched his daughter follow Luffy outside.

"Hey! What's your name?" The over enthusiastic boy asked her. "My names Echo. Now don't make a joke about it!" She laughed.

As Luffy showed them around the town, some mountain bandits started to walk in. They crouched behind a bush and watched the bandits. "Hey Luffy, let's head back to the bar. I've got a bad feeling about the bandits..." Luffy led her back to the bar and they sat on the barstools again.

Shanks was asking about what they did when the door to the bar was broken down. Shanks turned around to face the entrance where the mountain bandits stood. The bandit walked up to the middle of the room.

"Me and my goons want sake. We'll take all you have." The bartender sighed. "Sir we don't have any left." Shanks laughed, and held up a bottle of sake. "I'm afraid me and my buddies drank all of it." He held out the bottle. "Here. Have the last bottle."

The bandit looked down on him, took the bottle, and smashed it over his head. Echo saw Luffys face and saw he was enraged. Echo also felt anger start to bubble inside of her. She pushed it back down again, and just stared.

Shanks just sighed. "Oh no...now there's a mess everywhere." The bartender ran over with a towel. As she started to clean up the mess, Shanks took the towel from her. "No no, it's ok. I'll clean it up." He said.

The bandit smiled and swept all the glass plates off the bar. They landed on the ground, shattering. "If you like cleaning up so much, you will have fun doing this!" He left the building, laughing.
