A Night Alone

When dinner was finished you and Okabe did the dishes while Daru cleaned off the table. Suzuha began to set her stuff on the floor and investigated the entire room even more. Okabe heard the curtain open and turned back noticing Suzuha was glancing inside. "Hey! No looking through there! That is our secret lab and only lab members can be in there!" Suzuha was startled by his sudden outburst. "Come on dude don't startle her like that. It's rude." Daru said. The two began to bicker a little. Suzuha laughed at the two. "Man you guys are such good friends. I admit I'm kind of jealous." You glanced at her with a confused look.
"What do you mean? Were you a shut in when you were young?" "Eh not exactly. As a young kid I was outgoing and playful but in my teens I became more of a shut in." "You must have been a big shut in if you haven't had corn before now." "Blame my father. Once he left I really couldn't do much in the world."
"Were you sick or something? Unless it's too personal." "No. It's just hard to explain. If I think of the best way to explain it I will."
"Okay love birds! Break it up. You are lucky part timer. I normally don't lend out my lab to anyone. But you have to promise me one thing."
"We are not love birds let alone in love with each other!" You defended yourself.
Suzuha ran over to Okabe and gave him a salute. "I keep all my promises! If you ask my friends and family they can corroborate it!" The three of you were confused. "But you don't have any friends here with you." Suzuha blushed in embarrassment when she was called out but quickly regained her posture. "Anyway. You have to promise me you won't look through our lab unless you become a lab member." "You got it!" Suzuha held out her hand and the two shook on it. "Alright with that out of the way. I guess the rest of us will be making our leave then. Just make sure to keep the place clean and pristine." "You got it!"

Wit that everyone left. Mayuri gave Suzuha a hug before leaving. Suzuha was surprised at first but took the embrace. You couldn't help but notice the joy and bliss on he face when she gave in.
"Interesting. She seemed to really enjoy that hug from you Mayrushi." She smiled back at you with bliss on her face too. "Everyone needs a good bye hug! They are warm and comforting and always make people feel better." "heh! It sounds like you are talking about why you like them not why others do." Mayuri gave Okabe a cute pout in her response. "Okarin! That's how it is for everyone! Whoever doesn't like a hug... Is just a big meany pants!" Okabe got a little chuckle from her response and patted her on the top of the head. You looked over and noticed the sunlight was almost gone. Street lights began to illuminate the street when you four entered the subway station.
"Good bye Daru! See you tomorrow!" Mayuri chirped. Daru waved bye and got onto his subway.
The three of you got onto the other and rode for ten minutes until your stop. When you all got out of the subway the sun had disappeared and it had become pure darkness aside from the street lights.
"You be safe on your way home now Mayuri. I don't want to hear anything tomorrow about you getting lost or hurt." "Come on Okarin I'll be fine! I know my way home from here." "I guess you are right. You haven't had had to call me to get home for at least a year now." :Do you take me for a lost pet Okarin?" "Hahaha! No. I just need to make sure my hostage doesn't make an excuse to escape! Fuhahahaha!" "Eheheheh. Don't you know Okarin. I won't escape you. I can't. I know if I tried you would seriously hurt me or even kill me." "I always need to make sure you won't. If you do then my plans for world domination will all but be ruined." Mayuri waved good bye and quickly disappeared into the darkness.

"Well now that it's just the two of us what will we do when we get back to your place?" Okabe asked. You pondered for a minute.
"I guess we could play some games or watch an anime. You know I don't think I ever learned this but did you ever play halo or experience it?" "No I haven't. I do know of it and the looks do interest me. But keep in mind that halo was never really popular in the first place here in Japan."
"Yeah you have a point. One of my friends in America went to Japan for a few years and tried to get halo more popular but sadly he failed at it." "Unfortunate." You two walked down the road and through Sumida park.
"I want to confirm something with you (y/n)." You glanced in his direction.
"How long are we going to allow her to stay at the lab? I don't want this to become a common thing." "Don't worry. It's only until she gets enough money to find her own place and it really shouldn't be much longer until she does. Maybe two more pay checks which is only two weeks but she won't be there every night."
"Good! I ain't staying with you, Daru or Mayuri for two weeks."
"I understand that. I won't force you to give up your main residence. Just as long as you treat Suzuha nicely." "Why are you simping so hard for her? I have nothing against it but I am curious what attracts you to her." "I don't know honestly. I like her looks and playful personality. But there is something else I just can't explain about why I like her."
