Humanals

Marcus was a young starry eyed little butterfly. And by butterfly I don't mean the kind you can
catch and stuff in a jar. I mean the kind that looks like a human, talks like a human and walks like a human. But what makes them butterfly's then? Well, on there back they have a beautifully colourful pair of retractable butterfly wings. And on their heads a shiny pair of antennas. We call these beings humanals. Which is a very un-creative way of combining the words human and animal.

There are five different species of humanals. Butterfly's, bats, owls, unicorns and dragons. All of these species specialise in a different type of magic. For example butterfly's specialise in everything nature related. The source of their magic are springtrees. Springtrees and the forests surrounding them are the only real magic sources that still exist.

A long time ago, like very long, like an insanely long time ago there was magic everywhere. Giant magical creatures roaming around the earth. Everywhere you looked you could find something that you'd never seen before. Humanals lived together in..... Well I would say peace but there was still war soooo..... I guess they tolerated each other most of the time. But at some point in time humanals started having "normal" children that couldn't do magic. Eventually they would even be born without wings or tails. They would call them humans since all of their animal parts where gone.

Whenever these humans had children with humanals the kids would turn out human as well. The human population expanded over the years and they started making incredible mechanical advances. Things like cars and cranes... These were all things humanals didn't need since they could fly and make objects float. But after many years of humans trying to copy magic using mechanics and electricity they started getting jealous. The humans constantly had to work and invent but they still weren't welcome in the humanal community's. So they chose war.

They made guns and chemical bullets that the humanals couldn't defend against. They started  slaughtering them left and right. But the humanals fought back. Hundreds of thousands of soldiers on both sides where killed. It came to a point where only the winged opponents could escape. And slowly but surely all the grounded species of humanals died out.

Most of the magic on the ground vanished. And once they decided to leave the skies and return to the ground the winged humanals had to figure out a way to hide their differences and live amongst the humans in secret. That brings us back to how it is today. To avoid another war the humanals live hidden lives in human society. But back to the main story..... Uhm....Where was I?
