Marcus was a young starry eyed little butterfly.
He was born to a lovely Mexican butterfly couple. His mother María Elena Mariposa  had him when she was 27 years old. At the time his father Marco Antonio Mariposa  was already 34. While his father was completely sure about having kids his mother started having doubts about mid way trough the pregnancy. Since he seemed so excited she didn't tell her husband about what she had been thinking. Which is something she would later regret. The first four years of Marcus' life were spent in a loving home. They seemed to be the perfect family, until his father proposed an idea. He thought it would be lovely for Marcus to grow up with a younger sibling. But María definitely didn't agree.

She had spent the past four years feeling trapped. She felt like her life was too boring and like the man she had married was just not the right fit after all. But how could she leave? She had a four year old son. And even though she loved him to death she just didn't think she was ready to be a mother. She couldn't be a stay at home mom for the rest of her life, could she? I mean she had the perfect little life with the perfect little son and the perfectly smart and handsome husband she had always wanted but still she couldn't help but fall in love with another man. She had an affair. Two years. The affair went on for two whole years.

Until one morning, Marco had already gone of to work. It was a Saturday but he still had to go since he worked as a doctor. He had gotten up early that morning to make breakfast for his family. And after she had practically inhaled the breakfast her loving husband had made that morning she invited someone over. A very special someone. She hadn't told Marcus about the strange man that was about to enter the house after all, why would she? She thought her son would just be innocently playing upstairs as she had some fun on the couch in the living room. But that wasn't exactly how things went down. Marcus had been looking for his favourite toy car all morning. So he decided to ask his mom. But as he stood on the top of the stairs he just saw a strange man laying on the couch with a pair of long female legs sticking out from underneath him"Dad?" Marcus asked unknowingly. The man stood up to reveal his mother laying on the couch. "Oh Marcus". She said whilst still out of breath. "Forget about this, will you?" But he didn't. He definitely didn't.

The following days were filled with fighting and ended in divorce. Though typically the mother would get the child María refused to take her son with her. She moved across the country with the mysterious man she had been seeing, and that was that. Marcus and Marco where left to fend for themselves. This whole experience turned Marcus from "a starry eyed little kid" to a quite little boy that wanted to get as little attention as possible. But this behaviour would lead to him getting severely bullied.

It started innocently when he was seven. Other kids would tease him and pick on him just a little. The teachers at his school didn't seem to notice or care. But it progressively got worse and worse. Once the other kids figured out he was an easy target the teasing turned in to bullying. They would throw his jackets in the mud steals his lunch and rip up his homework. But then it got even worse, it got physical. They would push him, punch him, hit him and kick him. They would even throw him in garbage bins or lock him in the bike shed (a little shed behind the school where the bikes were kept). Whenever this would happen Marcus would start crying profusely, hyper ventilating and shaking. Since Marcus wasn't the brightest kid his teacher didn't care. She often even insulted him for being stupid in front of the entire class. All of this went on for four years since he was to scared to tell anyone. But when he eventually told his dad Marco immediately pulled his son out of school. The year wasn't finished yet, in fact there were still two months left but that didn't matter. He spent the last two months of his elementary school years at home. Learning how to take care of himself and the house while his dad went of to work.
