The world of Knell there are six different Kingdoms all which are in harmony, or at least as close to harmony as six Kingdom’s can get. That of the Elves, Fairies, Ogre’s, Witches and Warlocks, Trolls, and humans. The Elves live in the whispering mountains, each city is hidden away in secret passages, their Kingdom is great in number, and their magic is unmatched. While the elves are within their city, the water which flows down the mountain through their cities, keeps them immortal. Their King Zepher has lived thousands of years, yet he looks as if he is still twenty five years old, the age which Elves stop aging. The Ogre’s live in the depths of the coal mountains, where they mine the coal and trade it for food and other such necessities. Their numbers are small, but they are peaceful, and never wish to start a war. The Witches and Warlocks find themselves in the Glass Forest, where it snows all year round and the air is constantly freezing. The witches are local doctors for all the Kingdoms, they often are not in their homeland, they wander in small groups making money as they go along. Humans are constantly fighting for this land, they think it belongs to them. They live farthest west along the Sea of Crystal, their Kingdom is great, but they are foolish. Their King is constantly attempting war with the Witch and Warlock Kingdom, whom are closest to that of the humans. Thankfully they have yet to win any battles. Finally there is my homeland of the Fairies. We live on the small island of Mythe. The story begins here, where my childhood was.
I was born to a single mother named Willow, a patient kind fairy who worked hand in hand with the King, tending to his needs. When my mother found out she was pregnant, she left the high court and moved to a small village named Nore. Here she became the village seamstress and began building a life for her unborn child, me. The surprise came when I was born. Most Fairies are born with their wings, or nubs where their wings would grow, but when my small body entered this world, I had no wings to be seen, no nubs starting to form. This was a shock to many people in the tribe. As I grew older, other differences started to appear. My body was not as petite as that of my peers, I was taller and skinner than them. Not freakishly tall, but enough to be noticed. At the age of twenty five I was fully grown, and resembled my mother. My hair was long and brown, almost all the way down my back, and my eyes shown purple with green speckles. It was in that year that everything began to make sense.
