I awoke the next morning to cheers and parade music. I rolled over to find myself alone in our bed. I yawned slowly, attempting to ignore the sounds that surrounded me. I soon heard his deep voice coo the crowd. This made me dart my eyes open. I viewed Zepher standing on our balcony smiling down, obviously at the crowd below, with a hand waving to them. I yawned getting up and sliding a robe on. Zepher was wearing just loose pants leaving his chest to be seen by all of the Elves below. I walked up to him wrapping my arms around his waist while one of his arms draped across my shoulders. With this the crowd became very quiet, but each and every one of them held a grin on their cheeks. Zepher kissed my hand softly and pulled me in front of him before the crowd. His voice spoke low while he swayed with me in his arms. The crowd was nothing but attentive and they glowed with magic they couldn’t contain.
“I now announce my engagement to Rayne daughter of Tagar of the Elves and of Willow of the Fairy Isles.” With this he grabbed my hand that held his ring and kissed it softly breathing out his magic, the slow blue shinny magic that radiated from him surrounded my hand and slowly my entire body. My own magic floated above my skin mingling with his. This was the final test the Gods asked for. That our magics would intertwine, if they did not, we would not be soul mates. I watched as my pinkish magic that held no shimmer slowly melded with his dark blue shimmery magic. Soon our two magics formed a light sky blue that shined like no other. The crowd erupted yelling their happiness as magic danced on the air. I looked into Zepher’s eyes while kissing him softly. He was mine and I was his, for the rest of eternity.
The rest of that day we lay in bed, allowing a soft breeze to flow over us. Laying in Zepher’s arms was all I ever needed. At one point he kissed my forehead with a lazy grin on his face.
“Rayne?” He asked, as my eyes were closed.
“Yes Zepher?” I replied running my hand up and down his broad chest.
“Do you want children?” He asked this softly, almost as if I might reject him.
“Of course, you are King, Zepher, you need an heir, and I guess I’ve always wanted children.” I smiled at this imagining Zepher’s blue eyes on a little baby girl, or even a young boy playing magic ball with Zepher in the garden. I leaned over settling my self on his chest looking into his amazing eyes that never escaped my attention. “Do you want children my King?” I grinned at this as he cringed.
“Of course my love, especially with such a beautiful woman like you.” He tapped my nose wrapping his arms tight around me.
“Maybe I’m already with child, and you don’t know it yet.” I grinned while hiding my face from him. I knew I was late and I was just waiting for the perfect moment for Zepher to find out. I felt him tense below me and for a brief moment I thought he wouldn’t be happy.
“Rayne?” He asked almost dangerously
“Yes Zepher.” I replied tentatively. Without finishing his question he flipped me on my back running his hands over my lower stomach using his magic to try and sense the baby that was forming in me. I giggled when I felt his magic wrap around me. His face was pressed on my stomach and a content smile was resting on his face while his one hand, engulfed in magic, lay on one side of his face.
“Rayne, I can hear it’s heartbeat.” He lifted his eyes to me, his smile unmatchable.
“It’s?” I asked wondering if his magic could tell me now the sex of our baby.
“I want it to be a surprise.” He stated a boyish grin on his face. “At least for you.” With this I sat upright pulling away from him.
“No fair!” I half yelled at him pouting my bottom lip.
“I kid my love, I kid.” He said pulling me back into his arms. “Not even a King’s magic can determine that this early on.” He placed a kiss on my nose, when suddenly our bedroom doors burst open and a pure elvin magic spread through the room. It was purple and engulfed the person whose white locks were flying around her crazed face. Zepher stood suddenly his own magic pressing against hers. His eyes were a dark blue and even from our bed I could feel his anger. Daminia stood before him half growling at him.
“This is enough Zepher!” She screamed, “You’ve had your fill of your Fairy whore.” with this she started tearing at Zepher’s magic with her own. Zepher fought her off with no issue while she seethed at him. “You are mine, you were mine first!” She said getting closer to him at the end of our bed. “She is nothing but a worthless half-breed, she will only bring you petty half-breed heirs. She will be the end of the Elvin Kingdom!” She attacked now scratching and biting and hitting my fiance. My own magic rose and I stood up striding next to Zepher where he effortlessly held her off. I used my magic, that was at this moment leaking out of me. It engulfed all of Daminia’s magic and swallowed her words. I moved very close to her, letting my mouth sit next to her ear so she would hear me clearly.
“This is the only time I will tell you this. This is the only chance I will give you.” I felt my tone darken “Zepher is mine, and he will never be yours again.” She started to talk once again and I silenced her. “If you ever come into our chambers again for any reason, you will beheaded. If you insult my children, or my legacy, I will rip off all of your limbs myself. This is your only chance.” As the words dripped out of my mouth I saw Daminia’s face grow hard. Her anger was slowly fading until she stared at me smugly.
“The Queen thinks she knows everything, doesn’t she Zepher?” She laughed softly and I had almost a mind to smack her. “Have you even talked to her about palace business yet?” Zephers eyes grew cold as he let her go. “Apparently not.” she laughed turning to me “Oh little Queen, has Zepher not told you that the world is starting a new war? That he will be leaving in a week’s time?” She laughed hard now tears streaming down her face. I couldn’t help the shock that crossed my face. “When he is gone, you and I will talk.” She turned quickly exiting the room while I stood frozen in place, looking at Zepher for Answers.
“Rayne...” He said softly trying to embrace me.
“I’m leaving.” I said walking out of our chambers, going anywhere away from that room. My world was crumbling.
