Concealed in darkness

The Break in

    "Toni, are you sure this is a good idea?"
    "Relax Harley, I'm sure it'll be fine." Toni sassed, while giving Harley a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
Athena watched as the two girls went on with their daily dispute, this time arguing over how good of an idea it was to break into their high school. It was a small town, there were no parties, no big events and almost no crime. If anything exciting actually happened the police would simply cover it up and pretend nothing happened. There were rumors of dead bodies being found with strange symbols engraved on their necks, but of course it was just a rumor. People in this town would make up anything for entertainment. The girls were standing on the east side of the school waiting for the remaining teachers to leave the building.
    "what if we get caught?" Harley quivered peeking her head around the corner of the wall they were hiding out behind.
    "ohh please we wo—" Toni was stopped mid sentence by Athenas hand.
    "come on girls hush, if you keep this up were gonna get caught." Athena removed her hand from Toni's mouth wiping it on her jeans before checking her watch. 4:00, all the teachers should have went home by now. She peeked around the corner of the wall and squinted her eyes at the school, all lights seemed to be off.
The girls grabbed their supplies and each slowly made their way to the back of the building finding their way to the window they previously opened that Friday. To their relief it was still open, Harley climbed in first and the others followed. Athena was the last one inside and made sure the window would stay open so they had a way to get out in the morning. Since the school was in a specific area no one was around for miles at this time of day, they where now completely and utterly isolated.
They found a carpeted area in the commons and set up their stuff. They brought sleeping bags, food, games, some other junk, each had a flashlight with extra batteries. They messed around for a few hours with no problems, they ran around chasing each other, raided the kitchen, screwed with a few things in their least favorite class rooms, and by the time they were hungry it was about 7:00.
They  sat in a circle around an electric lantern and took out the food they prepared for that night and quickly chowed down. They discussed what usual teenage girls talk about boys, people they had crushes on and... uhh, well that's pretty much it.
"You know the school seems different when all the lights are out." Toni said with a mouth full of PB&J.
Harley giggled, "it sure does." She was looking at a glob of jelly on Toni's face.
Toni raised an eyebrow, "hey what's so funny?"
"ooh nothing." Harley replied with a giddy smile plastered on her face.
Toni and Harley continued to chat with the occasional snort of laughter while Athena focused on something else. She was eating when she could've swore she saw a pair of glowing red eyes behind Toni about 8 feet up in the air. Athena rubbed her eyes and when she opened them the glow of the red eyes were gone, she figured she was just seeing things and forgot about it. She joined in on Toni and Harley's conversation and went on with her night.
