Concealed in darkness

So close-

I stopped in my tracks, my hands shaking and quickly loosing my balance I collapsed to the floor. I looked down in horror tears spilling from my eyes. A 3 foot long spear was lodged straight through my chest, barley missing my heart. I knew I had a mere seconds until my inevitable death. My tears growing more rapid now I gasped for air my voice growing raspy. I reached out to the darkness which the monster was concealed in. "Please" was the only thing I managed to force out. I heard its low growl as it slowly made it way closer to me. I was horrified. It bared its teeth its claws reaching out for me. I closed my eyes, this was my final hour. I thought about my friends, my family, the good and the bad.

The Monster came crippling towards Athena, stabbing one last spear through her body. The monster melted into the shadows leaving the same strange mark on its prey as it had done before. The school was empty and quiet, it seemed gloomier then it ever. The three girls Toni, Athena and Harley where never heard of again. No one truly knew what happened that night and no one ever will. Early Monday morning a teacher had come through the front doors ready for a new day of school. Only to find a dead body on the floor. Like a predictable reaction to such a discovery she screamed and ran out the doors, they ran to their car shapely calling the police. They soon arrived and searched the school, there was no trace of any weapons or any other people their that night. The security cameras were wiped clean the only thing that remained was the body's of three heart filled girls concealing a strange symbol on each of their necks. The police coved it up just like they had done with the others and trie stop forget what they had seen that morning. As for the students well, all they cared about was that school was canceled for a week, nobody thinking twice about why.

Over the course of a few months more and more attacks accrued till the city was completely wiped out. It was chalked up as a ghost town and like the girls was never heard of again.
