Chapter 4

Jade's POV

I was sitting at Ashton's coffee table in an awkward silence. He was in the kitchen making food and hot chocolate. He walked over to me and handed me the mug of hot chocolate. He sat down and sipped on his own mug.

"So how do you know I live here?" He asked looking up.

"I don't, I just knocked on the closest door and it happened to be yours." I answered.

"Oh" he mumbled.

We sat in silence once more. Ashton got up and went back into the kitchen. He came back a few minutes later and handed me a plate full of different foods. There was some chicken nuggets and there was macaroni and cheese with some strawberries on the side.

"We're not leaving until that plate is empty." He stated and sat next to me with his own food.

"But..." I protested.

"No buts, now eat." He went back to eating.

I stared at my own food for a while and decided that I should eat it so I could go home. I ate it all quickly and my stomach hurt from not being used to eating so much. I look over at Ashton. He took the plates and put them in the sink. He walked back with two coats. He put one on and held out the other one to me.

"Here it's colder out now so wear this."

I grabbed it and whispered a thanks. I put it on and we left. I walked behind him as he walked to the school. We got there in about ten minutes. I looked at him and said "Thank you for everything you've done, bye." I turned and started walking towards my house.

"Wait I'll come with you." He ran after me.

I stopped walking. "Why?" I questioned.

"It's to late for you to be walking home alone so I'll go with you." He answered.

"Do what you want." I snapped, walking towards my house with him following.

We walked in silence. I was looking at the floor and he was looking at his surroundings. We arrived, I turned around.

"Thanks for walking me home" I mumbled.

He smiled. "No problem I was glad to." He waved goodbye and walked away.

I walked in my house and went straight to my room. I did my homework and put some music on. After I was done I listened to 'Life is Beautiful' By Sixx A.M. staring at my ceiling. I turned off the lights and went to bed.

Time Skip (First hour)

I went to Language and sat down in my seat. Ashton walked in and sat down on his. He looked at me and smiled. I looked at my paper with my hair hanging over my face covering my embarrassment. 'Why do I get so flustered just from him smiling?' The teacher walked in and started class. When class was over I ran out to my locker.

Time Skip (Third hour)

I walked in and sat where I sat yesterday. I pulled out a notebook and started to draw a sugar skull. The teacher walked in and announced "It's a free period today so do what you want." and sat down.

I continued drawing my sugar skull. I looked up and noticed that Ashton wasn't here yet. 'Where is he?'

A few minutes later Ashton came in. He was holding a bag of ice on his head. He handed the teacher a piece of paper and the teacher nodded. He walked to me and sat down.

"So what are we doing today?" He asked.

"It's a free period."

"Oh ok... so what are you doing?" He looked over my shoulder.

"I'm drawing you a sugar skull." I blushed at my own words.

"Oh really that's awesome!"

I went back to drawing and he grabbed some origami paper. I was drawing and he was folding who knows what. He tapped me on the shoulder, which made me flinch, and handed me a swan.

"Oh uh thanks." I grabbed it and gave him a small smile.

"No problem I thought that since you were drawing me something that I should make you something in return."

I nodded. I went back to my drawing and continued where I left off.

Time Skip (Last hour)

I walk in math, which is my favorite subject. I sighed, this is the only class that I have without Ashton and with Jack. I went to the spot I go in every class, the corner. I sat down and pulled out the math book. Jack walked in and looked for me. He noticed me and put his evil grin on. He walked over to me "No one can protect you now."

He picked me up by my shirt and dragged me out of the room. I was about to start screaming when Drake put his hand over my mouth. Jack drag me all the way out of the school. He threw me to the ground. As I slowly got up he kicked me in the side making me fall over again. Drake held me up as Jack kept punching me. He didn't stop. I coughed up some blood and had trouble breathing. Jack punched me in the stomach once more before the bell rang saying that school was over. Drake let me go as students started to walk out. I held my stomach and fell to the floor. Students eyed me as they walked by. Ashton walked out looking for something. He saw me bloody and on the floor. He looked horrified and ran over to me as my conscience started to fade.

"Hey Jade are you ok!? What happened to you!?" He picked me up bridal style and I passed out.

Ashton's POV

I started running to the nearest hospital with Jade unconscious in my arms. She had blood dripping from her mouth and nose, her eye was swollen and she had bruises all over her arms. 'Who did this to her! Who ever did this to her is going to pay for it.'

I arrived at the hospital. I yelled for help and a nurse rushed over. She took Jade from my arms and ran away, telling me to wait in the waiting room.

I waited patiently in the waiting room. A few minutes later the nurse who took Jade away came up to me. "You can see her now, her room in 304."

"Thanks" I nodded and walked to the room.

I opened the door and walked to her bed. She had bandages wrapped around her head and arms. She also had some gauze on her cheek. The sight of her was horrifying. It made me mad. 'How could someone do this to her!' I sat down on the chair next to the bed and watched Jade sleep.
