Chapter 8

Jade's POV

The man in the doorway smirked.

"Hello... Jade," he said as he started to walk up to me.

I stared, unable to do anything, frozen in fear. The closer he got the more I wanted to sink into the couch. I wanted to scream but my voice was wasn't working. He put his hand forward, ready to grab me but Ashton stepped between us.

"Don't touch her!" he yelled pushing him away.

The man growled. "How dare you speak to me like that! I am her father!"

I saw Ashton stiffen. He looked back at me, expecting an answer. The house was silent as I tried to speak.

"U-um..." I couldn't get the words out. The back of my mind was yelling at me to run. "H-he is... but," I couldn't continue.

"See, she said so herself so you need to leave," he said glaring at Ashton.

Ashton looked at me, then at my dad. "No," he spat, "I'm her boyfriend and I don't trust you so I'm not going anywhere."

I was shaking in fear as they had mental fight. 'Dad' turned his head away. "Tch, whatever, I'm leaving," he walked to the door and looked back at me, "see you later, Jade." He left.

I saw Ashton relax and sit down next to me.He turned to me but I was still shaking and staring at the door. He gave me a sad look and pulled me in for a tight hug.

"It's ok," he said rocking me slowly, "I'm right here. I won't leave you alone." He continued to whisper sweet things in my ear. I tried to keep my emotions together but eventually I broke down, crying on his shoulder. We stayed like that for who knows how long before my eyes dried out and I drifted off into a peaceful sleep in Ashton's arms.

Ashton's POV

I felt genuinely bad for her. I didn't know what the relationship between her and her dad is but it must be serious. After Jade fell asleep on me I started to fall asleep as well but before I actually fell asleep the door opened and a women, who looked to be in her early thirties, walked in.

Her eyes widened at the sight in front of her. "Oh! umm hello," she said looking at me suspiciously.

"Uhh, hi," I said smiling awkwardly.

I felt Jade stir on me as she woke up. She rubbed her eyes and look at me. She looked so cute! "Sorry! I didn't mean to fall asleep on you." She blushed and hurriedly got off me. "That's ok," I said reassuring her but before she got off me I whispered in her ear, "You were really cute."

She looked around and saw her mom. "O-oh...um...hi mom," she stuttered and waved at her mom.

Her mom looked over at me, "Who might this be?" she asked.

She looked at me and I smiled. "W-well this is... h-he's my boyfriend, Ashton."

To say her mom was surprised was an understatement . She stood there wide eyes and with her mouth slightly open. I got up, walked over to her and held out my hand. I was reeeeeeally nervous. "Hi, I'm Ashton Stone. Sorry we had to meet like that." She just starred at me before she seemed to come back to the real world. She shook my hand. "Oh don't worry! I'm Jade's mom, Sarah."

I smiled at her before going over to Jade. She seemed like she was thinking so I nudged her with my shoulder.

"Hmm? What? Oh, sorry I was uh thinking." She looked at me, at her mom, then at the floor.

I leaned down to her ear, "Are you going to tell her about your dad?"

She seemed surprised by the question, but shook her head no. She looked at her mom and asked, "Can Ashton stay over for dinner?" Sarah said yes and I saw Jade smile, "Ok, I'm gonna take him to my room," she said grabbing my hand, dragging me upstairs to her room. "No naughty stuff!" her mom yelled after us.
