Jade's POV

I open my eyes to see my ceiling. I get out off my room and go downstairs to check on Ashton but, he wasn't there. I went to the kitchen to see a note. It read: Don't worry about me, I just had to go meet someone. I'll be back soon so wait for me. -Ashton

Who did he meet? I went back to the living room and turned the tv on. The news came on. It seems that my dad hasn't been caught. I shivered at the thought of him coming back to the house. I kept worrying about Ashton even though he said not to. I made some breakfast to distract myself.

Ashton's POV

After I wrote the note for Jade, I quietly left her house. I knew I had to do this. I have to if I want to keep Jade safe. I pulled my phone out and looked at the address I was sent. I knew where it was. I wasn't scared to go, I can't be scared. There's no way out of this. I continued walking down the street. I turned the corner but stopped when I got another message. It said that he's waiting for me. I calmed myself when I got a little nervous.

I arrived at the tall, run down building. It looks like it hasn't been used in years. I walked through the front doors and there stood the man I despise. He smirked, getting up from the crate he was sitting on.

"I didn't think you would actually come," he laughed, "I guess I can give you some credit for not running away with your tail between your legs."

"As if I would let a chance like this go to waste. Plus there's no way I'd let you touch her again." I growled. I felt a sharp sting on my rib but ignored it. I can't let him see me weak.

"Hah! You have a big bark but no bite. But, that just makes this easier for me to kick you're ass again." He ran towards me with a knife in his hand. Well, I wasn't expecting that. I dodged the knife when it was swung in my face. He kept swinging the knife and I tripped over a crack in the ground. I fell back, he stopped swinging. He looked down at me, laughing. "Do you have any idea how stupid you look right now? This is already getting boring."

I jumped to my feet but, he punched my stomach. I gasped and fell to my knees, holding my stomach. He kicked the side of my head. Then, repeatedly kicked my stomach. I struggled to breathe as the pain of my previous wounds grew. I coughed and felt a warm liquid dripping out of the side of my mouth. My vision blurred for a moment. I mustered all the strength I could and pushed him away. He stumbled but caught himself. That gave me enough time to get up. My whole body screamed and ached but I had to stop him until the police get here. Yup that's right, before I came here I called the police and they agreed to come a little after I got here. He pulled out a gun and aimed it towards my head, my eyes widened in panic.

"I think we both know who's going to win this fi-" The sounds of sirens interrupted him. His face turned red, his eyes were furious and his hand started shaking. "I see how this is. This is only something a coward would do. Do you think you'll get away with this! I won't stop! Even if I'm caught, I will always come after you!" The sirens got louder. He began to panic. He growled and started running away from the sirens but, he suddenly turned to me with the gun facing me. My eyes widened, I tried running away but my body was too tired. "Good bye, Ashton, for now." he pulled the trigger. My ears rung and an agonizing pain shot through me, forcing me back. I screamed but coughed in the middle. It hurt so much. It was unbearable. I could feel myself loosing consciousness. I heard doors slamming and people talking. Some of the people ran up to me as the others searched the place.

"Hey! Are you ok? Can you hear me?" A man shook me softly. I tried answering but no sound came out. I gave up trying and closed my eyes, letting go.

My eyes opened, I looked around but everything is dark. I slowly get up and feel around me. There's nothing here. "Where am I?" I question. There's no answer. I look around some more, I found a small light and started walking to it. I kept walking but the light never got closer so I started running. It kept getting further away. I stopped running to catch my breath. I heard soft footsteps behind me. I turned around to see a small figure. "Who are you?" The figure smiled and pointed behind me, to the light. "What about it? It's just a stupid light that keeps running from me." The figure shook its head.
