Chapter 1: New girl

(A/N: The point if view will always be in Midnight's perspective unless I say otherwise.)

I walked down the twisting halls and let my fingers graze across the walls until I reached my destination. My hand slid over the cool, smooth metal. I took my free hand and gently k Ickes on the door.

"Come in." Came the sleepy reply of my best friend.

I turned the knob slightly and pushed the door open. I walked in an shut the door behind me, facing him. He smiled, his teal eyes twinkling and his hair in the same red, orange Mohawk that never needed to be touched.

"Morning Tapion. I'm sorry if I disturbed you. I'm just really excited!" I said, in a whisper because Trunks was asleep next door.

"That's okay." He said stretching,"It's 9:00 AM on your sixth birthday. I understand." He said, scooting over and patting the spot next to him.

I smiled and sat on the bed next to him. He put some blankets on me so that I wouldn't be cold. He was the bestest friend I could ask for.

"Hey, you think Trunks will be awake?" I asked.

"I'll go check. You're the birthday girl, so you sit and rest." He said getting up and smiling at me.

"Okay." I said and he walked out of the room.

He came back in, his expression was hard to make out with the direct sunlight on him.

"He's gone." He said, kinda loud.

"Who's gone?" My father's harsh tone was heard from behind Tapion.

Tapion stepped aside to let him in. He had his arms crossed an his face was twisted in annoyance,"Well?!" He snapped.

"Trunks, daddy." I replied.

"I'm sure he'll be fine." Dad said, and picked me up,"Now I believe it's someone's birthday. Is it Tapion's?" He asked.

"Nope." I said, shaking my head.

"Is it Trunks's and that's why you're worried his missing?" He asked.

"Nope again." I said giggling.

"Is it... Yours?" He asked smiling.

"Yep!" I smiled and hugged him.

He put me down and I gripped his hand.

"Come on, lets go eat." He said.

"Food!" I chanted,"Come on Tapion!" I said and he smiled, following.

We walked into the kitchen and everyone was here! Goten, Master Roshi, even Tien came! My smile widened to where I felt like my cheeks would pop.

"Happy birthday, Midnight!" They all yelled in unison.

"Thank you all so much!" I said, giggling.

"How old are you now?" Gohan asked, bending down to my size.

I counted on my fingers,"six!" I held up the fingers.

The door opened, and Trunks walked in with some girl. She had short brown hair and brown eyes. She smiled to me, and looked up at Trunks.

"Sorry I'm late. Are you mad, Midnight?" He asked.

"Nope, I'm not mad." I replied.

"This is Chloe, my girlfriend." He introduced her.

'Girlfriend?' I processes the word in my mind.

"Happy birthday, Midnight." Chloe said, but I turned, ignoring her.

I walked to Tapion and stayed by his side, ignoring Phoebe's confused looks.

"You okay?" Tapion whispered to me.

"I have a bad feeling about her." I responded softly.

"I don't sense evil in her." Tapion said confused.

"But I don't sense good intentions either." I said.

"It's your party, have some fun and then we'll worry about this." He said to me, and set me on his shoulder, gripping onto me so I won't fall.

Eventually, I walked into the backyard, and Trunks had left Chloe alone.

"Hi, Midnight." She said sweetly but I turned my pack to her and gripped a post.

"You're not who you say you are. I don't know what you're hiding but when I find out, if its a threat to my brother, you'll be hearing from me. Understood?" I snapped.

She crossed her arms,"Sure, whatever. All I know is, you aren't going to figure it out, and how would you hurt me, without hurting your precious brother?" She asked.

I turned to her as she continued,"Imagine how he'd feel if his little sister hurt the girl he loves?" She smiled.

"Shut up, I'll be sure to unmask you before I hurt you." I said,"I've thought this through."

Trunks walked out,"Hey guys... Midnight, why are you so tense?" He asked.

"No reason." I said between gritted teeth and I walked into the house, slamming the door behind me.

"That was weird." I heard him say to her.

"She's fine, she's just tired." Chloe said to cover it up.

I walked away so I couldn't hear anymore. I spotted Tapion talking to Goten about some Hirudagon, or something like that.

"Hey Midnight!" Goten said and I walked over to them.

"The new girl is hiding something. She some what admitted it." I whispered to Tapion and he nodded.

The new girl, Chloe, was hiding something and I'd find it out. I'm not going to let her hurt or put my brother in danger.

I looked back at Trunks and Chloe hugging.she glared at me and I rolled my eyes. I hugged Tapion and listened to the story of Hirudagon...
