Next Day... Ella's P.O.V.

I smoothed out my dress and I slipped on my shoes.

Tonight was my dinner date with Bruce, which I was super excited for

Tonight was my dinner date with Bruce, which I was super excited for. It took everything in me not to start getting ready as soon as I woke up this morning. I really liked Bruce, and I was thankful I didn't have any pre-created notions of him. I'd never reported on Bruce Wayne, or Wayne Industries at all in my time as a reporter, and now I was grateful I never did. To me, Bruce seemed like a somewhat normal guy. He was really sweet, and I was able to talk to him easily. I hoped this would go somewhere.

I heard a ring and walked over to my monitor to see that Alfred was downstairs.

"I'll be down in a second, Alfred," I said through the speaker.

"Very good miss," he said.

I took the elevator down and walked outside. Alfred smiled and opened the door to a car for me.

"Thank you," I said as he helped me in.

"Of course, miss," he said as he walked to the driver's seat. "I have prepared a roast for you and Master Bruce tonight, I do hope it is to your liking."

"I'm sure it will be," I assured with a smile.

Bruce's P.O.V.

Alfred pulled up to the house and I walked up to the car. I opened the side door and Ella looked up at me with a radiating smile. My eyes widened and she blushed. She looked breathtaking.

"Too much?" She asked shyly, motioning to her dress.

I shook my head and held out my arm.

"Not at all," I assured. "You look beautiful."

Ella smiled and stepped out of the car, accepting my arm. I led her into the house and her eyes widened as she looked at the interior.

"Wow," she breathed out. "It looks so much bigger on the inside."

"Wait till you see the rest of it," I stated with a smile.

Her eyes scanned the artwork on the walls and the artifacts I had lying around.

"I can respect a man who has good taste in art," she said and I laughed.

Ella smiled at me and I led her into the dining room. I helped her into the seat next to me before I sat down. Alfred brought out our food and left. We both smiled and began to eat.

"I know that you were fired," I said.

Ella's eyes widened and her smile dropped. "How?" She asked.

"I have my ways." Ella sighed and started eating again. "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine Bruce, thanks for asking," she assured with a small smile. "It shouldn't be too much of a problem for me to find a new job. Now. Let's talk about something else."

I frowned, but quickly covered it with a smile. In hindsight, that probably wasn't the best way to start a date.

"How's your day been?" Ella asked.

"Boring until you came," I stated.

It was true, there had been no need for the Batman all day, and Wayne Industries was running as smoothly as ever. Ella smiled and blushed.

"Well, I'm glad you're not bored anymore."

We both laughed and fell into conversation. It was like at the café, we were able to have an educated conversation and yet relax and have fun. Her smile and laugh were like music to my ears. There was no hint of her faking or being strained. It was pure. Everything was going great when the Batwave went off on my phone. Ella raised a brow.

"Excuse me for a second," I said, looking at my phone.

A robbery at the jewelry store. Great. I looked at Ella and gave her a sad smile.

"I have to go," I said. "There's an emergency at one of my labs."

Ella nodded and stood. I quickly walked her to the door and saw that Alfred already had the car ready.

"Ella," I said. "I am really sorry-"

"Bruce," she stopped me "It's fine, I understand how serious lab emergencies are. Just let me know that you're alright when it's over."

She kissed my cheek and got into the car. I blushed but didn't have time to relish the feeling as I ran down to the cave. I felt my heart beating faster as I changed into my suit. I really did score quite the woman.

Later...

I sat on my bed and sighed. It's been a long night for the Batman. It was two in the morning and the city was finally quiet for now. I checked my phone to see a message from Ella.

"Are you alright?" I smiled.

"Everything's under control," I texted back. I got an instant reply.

"Good. I was getting worried. Sleep well, Bruce."

"You too Ella."
