A few months later... Bruce's P.O.V.
The wedding was upon us, less than a week away. After so long of planning, it was all finally coming into place. I had to practically lock away all of the files and bins of things that Ella had collected for the wedding planning, to keep Ella from worrying about it. Even though everything was in the hands of a trusted wedding coordinator, I had read about brides who became anxious with all of the last-minute details. I didn't want her to stress, not one bit, but I knew she was.
I walked into the library to find Ella sitting and journaling. I knew she had a hard time keeping up with journals, in fact, it was rare she used it unless she was particularly anxious or overwhelmed. I thought for a moment about what I could do to help before I started approaching her.
"We're going on a date tonight," I stated, and Ella looked up at me.
"We get married in five days," she said with a raised brow.
"I know, but I want to go on one more date with you before that."
She smiled and nodded. That was one of the things I loved about her, she was so understanding.
"Where did you have in mind?"
Later... Ella's P.O.V.
Bruce and I were sitting in a cafe. To be precise, the cafe we had our first date in. I thought it was cute, that he was thinking of the beginning. To be honest, I had been thinking about it too.
"Are you ready?" Bruce asked. "For the wedding?"
"I hope so," I said before letting out a breath, and Bruce took my hands in his.
"I'm nervous too. Don't worry. Soon, you'll be Mrs. Wayne."
I smiled at the sound of that. "Thanks, Bruce. Really, I don't know what I did to deserve you."
"You did everything."
I smiled softly and shrugged. Bruce was always so sweet, I could never be as charming as he is.
"I like to think it was a team effort," I said and we both laughed. "And no matter what you say, I'm always going to consider myself the lucky one. I always hoped and prayed I had a soul mate somewhere out there for me, but I never imagined him being this perfect."
"I never imagined getting married, especially because of my work. But after our first date, I couldn't stop thinking about you. The way you listened, the way you so genuinely cared about me, and everything I had to say... I hadn't felt that connection with a woman before. Unlike you, I didn't believe in soul mates until I met you. And we have Alfred to thank for that, actually."
"We should get him something nice then. Maybe give him a vacation?"
"That's a good idea, I'm sure he'd love to get out of Gotham for a bit. Which reminds me, I'm sorry we can't go on a honeymoon... If both Bruce Wayne and the Batman disappear at the same time it'll cause suspicion."
"I know, and it's fine. Maybe for our tenth-year anniversary we'll go out and make up for it. I'm just happy to be marrying you."
Bruce smiled and leaned forward for a soft kiss. "I'm just happy to be marrying you too."
Sorry I didn't update for a while, I've been going through some seasonal defective stuff, so I've been very unmotivated and very tired. Anyways, thank you all for your patience and support <3
