Tyler's POV

I opened one eye. Just a little. But I closed it again right after. My bed was so warm. And it smelled like...Josh? Huh, why not. I turned around and opened my eyes again. Why are my curtains red? I thought they were gray...weird. And that's not my nightstand. And my walls certainly aren't covered by so many posters...wait...
I sat up, eyes shot open. This wasn't my room. This was Josh's room! And Josh's bed! Why was I in Josh's bed? And how did I get here?? Was I drunk last night? I must've been because I didn't even remember going to his house! WHAT HAPPENED? I had so many questions but no answers.
I needed to find Josh.
I washed myself off in Josh's bathroom and went downstairs. As i was walking down the stairs, I saw my best friend. Well, only his back. He was in the kitchen, cooking something while whistleing. I could hear the radio playing in the living room.
I made my way to the kitchen counter and watched him for a while. He still didn't know i was here. I decided to use the deepest voice I could and spoke up.
"Looks like you're making some edible goods. Mind sharing with me?" I smirked.
He jumped up in surprise and turned around threatening me with a wooden spoon. I burst out laughing at the sight. I almost fell to the ground.
Josh woke up from his shock coma and immediately a smile made it's way onto his face.
"Tyler! Dang, you really know how to make my heart beat. And this early in the morning!" he chuckled.
I was still trying to collect myself from laughing so hard. I had to compose my breath.
"I'm sorry, Josh, I didn't mean to scare you." I laughed, wiping the tears from my eyes. He gave me a suspicious look.
"Ok, ok, maybe I did mean to scare you, but not this much! I'm sorry!" I said with an apologetic look. "Please, forgive me!"
He smiled back at me.
"Fine, I forgive you, Tyler. To be honest, my facial expressions are pretty hilarious. I'm a pro." he laughed
"Wow, so confident?" I teased him with a raised eyebrow.
"My facial expressions are the highlight of every show we do! That's a commonly known fact!" He argued with amusement in his voice.
"Ok, now i actually have to agree!" I chuckled.
He just smiled in response, turned around and continued to stir that food mystery.
"Hey, Ty, take a seat at the table, the food is almost ready!" He said without facing me.
"Alright, chef!" I smiled and made my way to the kitchen table. I sat down and waited. Not even two minutes later, I saw Josh carrying two large plates in his hands as he was walking towards me with a grin.
"Close your eyes, Tyler. It's a surprise on a plate!" he explained.
I closed my eyes and heard a plate being placed in front of me.
"Alright. Open!", Josh ordered.
I opened my eyes and saw a deliciously looking meal.
"Wow, Josh, it looks so good! And smells even better!" I praised him, giving him a smile.
"Thanks, I know.", he said proudly. He sat down, facing me. We ate, we talked, we laughed. Everything felt right.

After breakfast, we layed on a couch together, talking about anything and everything. The conversation died down, and we enjoyed each others company in silence. But then, i remembered something.

"Josh?" I broke the silence, looking over at him.
"Yeah?" he responded, sprawled out on the couch, his eyes still closed.
"What...what happened yesterday?" I asked nervously.
In that moment, his eyes opened and looked at me.
"What do you mean?", he furrowed his brows in confusion.
"I sort of-I don't remember anything from yesterday." I admitted
"You're joking, right?", Josh laughed "Good one."
I looked him in the eye, slightly offended.
"No, Josh, I swear this is not a joke! I don't even remember coming to your house! I-I wasn't planning on visiting you yesterday. I don't remember how or WHY I got here, or how I got into your bed. I don't remember anything!", my voice got progressively louder as I spoke, frustrated.
Josh looked at me, his facial expression slowly changed from entertained to confused.
"You... don't remember...anything? Anything at all?" He questioned, staring at me.
"No, I don't! That's what i'm trying to tell you!" I answered.
Josh's face looked even more confused now.
"But...How is that...That doesn't make any sense...", Josh said, almost mumbling the last part to himself. He looked on the floor, staring as if in deep thought.
"Josh," I tried to get his full attention "What...what happened at night? Tell me." I said seriously. He looked at me. After a short silence, he started.
"Well...I was asleep but then my doorbell woke me up. It was like...three in the morning, almost. I got up and went to open the door and when i did...you stood there, in the rain. You looked like you haven't slept for days. You said you had a bad night and i let you in. We sat on the couch and I asked you what happened, and you just repeated you had a bad night, but nothing else. I didn't want to push you, so I said you could sleep over. You even started crying so i tried to comfort you. You almost couldn't even walk, so i had to carry you into my bed. It... it WAS odd. You acted a bit strange here and there. Like, you entered my house and looked around as if you've never seen it before. And then, in the morning, i saw how happy you were, So i was just relieved that you seemed to feel better, and i didn't want to bring it up and, i don't know, ruin your mood." Josh explained.
I caught myself staring at him with mouth open. I  tried to form a sentence, but had no words to work with in my brain.
"I...I...don't remember any of that!", I said. I was freaking out. "This is not normal! What is wrong with me?!" I yelled, panicking. I started to pace around the room, without even realizing. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder. Josh stood in front of me, looking at me.
"Tyler, please, calm down! Just breathe, ok?" He looked away, then back at me again.
"Tyler. What is the last thing you remember?" He asked slowly. It caught me off guard.
I tried to think.
What is the last thing I remember?
"I...remember waking up around midnight. I made myself a glass of water and then..." I trailed off. Nothing. I had no other memory. As if someone switched the lights off in my brain and it was just...blackness.
"I don't know.."I said quietly. My heart was beating really fast.
"Josh, what if it happens again? What am I gonna do?" I freaked out again.
"Tyler, listen. I know it's scary but its not gonna happen again. I'm sure theres an explanation." He said
"Besides, it happened once. If its gonna happen again,  we'll go see a doctor, ok? But right now, I think you need a distraction from all of this." He assured me.
"Let's go play a few songs." He said.
I nodded. I guess he was right. I was just overthinking.
We went to joshs basement. It wasnt a very large room but it was just enough to move around and it felt quite cozy.
I grabbed my uke and Josh sat down by the drums. I watched him as he hit the drums a few times. Then he looked at me giving a reassuring smile.
"You ready?" He asked
I nodded, smiling back.
"You bet! Let's go. One, two, three, YEAH YEAH YEAH!"
I yelled out as I strummed my ukulele violently. Josh smashed the drums with the force of a skilled drummer boy, and we were back at it. Back in the flow of music, just the two of us, giving out everything we had as if we were performing for thousands of people. But in reality, we were performing only for each other. And, in that moment, that was enough.
I sang my heart out and watched Josh as he gave his everything to the drums. I was truly happy right at that
moment and i forgot about all the strange stuff that happened during the last few hours.
Days passed by and the Blurryface tour was getting closer and closer. Me and Josh knew how huge this tour is, because our song Stressed Out exploded, our album got sold out everywhere, and the tickets were gone in maybe two days. It was crazy. I was more nervous than ever, since the whole world was talking about us, though we never expected to get this much recognition.
And suddenly, it was happening. The first show of our tour was here. I was shaking, staring at myself in the mirror of my dressing room. Dark circles under my eyes indicated that i hadnt slept properly for about a week.
I asked myself:"Do I actually deserve all of this?"
I didn't think I did.
And yet, I had it all.
The show was about to start in a few minutes. I had to put a black paint on my hands and neck. I had my red suit on. I adjusted the tie around my neck, tightening it just a bit. Out of nowhere though...something strange happened. As I tightened my tie, my neck got squeezed way too much and I gasped for air, and for about a second, my vision darkened and I could barely see my silhouette in the mirror, eyes empty and wide open, and istead of a tie, there was a rope around my neck. I could hear a dark voice coming from somewhere behind my back, it was right in my ear and yet, I couldnt understand it. And then, it was gone as fast as it came. I was back to my normal vision, in my dressing room. I started to shake even more, when I saw that my hands and neck are covered by black paint. I did not have it painted just a second ago. How can something like this happen out of nowhere?! I was about to have a panic attack, when suddenly, Josh barged in my room.
"Dude, we need to go! The show has to start in like, two minutes!", he said with slight irritation in his voice. That woke me up from my trance. Without a second thought, I grabbed my mask and looked in the mirror one last time. Then, I ran out of my dressing room, following my drummer. I could hear the fans screaming even from here.
Finally we got to the blacked out stage, I hid behind my piano and Josh behind his drums, to make a grand entrance. I put on my mask. The crowd went insane, as the intro to heavydirtysoul started. I put on my mask. I was still shaking really bad. And then, it was time to show ourselves. Quickly I ran to my mic and started rapping as if my life depended on it. Josh smashed his drums with a force i hadnt seen yet. And we were on. The crowd was screaming so loud, I couldn't even hear my own voice. The fans started to sing along passionatelly and I was shocked by how insane amount of people was here, and they were here just to see the two of us. It felt like an out of body experience. I've never seen a crowd this large at our shows. Adrenaline was rushing through my veins. I felt a little lightheaded, but I had no other choice than to push through it and give these people everything I had. I couldnt dissapoint them. No. That was not an option.
I sang and I danced and ran around the stage and jumped across my piano. Sweat was raining from me and Josh as we performed. And our fans responded with earpiercing  screaming.
We got to our song "We don't believe whats on TV". I had  to make a welcome speech. I stood behind the mic, and the crowd went wild.
"Hello there." I said, my voice shaking a bit. The fans gave me an instant reaction. "I'm Tyler, this is my friend Josh and we're here to put on a show for ya."
The crowd reacted to this very aggressively.
"This next song is really important to me and Josh, but we need your help, guys. When i say One two three, i need you to say YEAH YEAH YEAH, okay?!" I yelled and the crowd yelled back. "Okay, so, one, two three..."
"YEAH YEAH YEAH!" the crowd had blown me away by their scream. I started to sing passionatelly.
The show was going by fast, and in a blink, we were bowing down to our fans in a sea of falling confetti. They were screaming and some were even crying. I loved our people. They were the ones holding us up each and every show. I've missed this so much. I've only realized this now, how much I needed to see our fans again.
I was truly happy. I hadn't smiled this much in a while. But then, my smile froze suddenly. Fear had settled into my bones.
I saw him. He was crouching down on the top of the platform, where I performed Car Radio. He was piercing me with his gaze. Then, he raised his hand in a fist, and slowly turned it into a gun sign. He pointed the gun at me and pretended to shoot me.
Suddenly I could hear his voice ringing in my ears.
"Hope you enjoyed your last show, Tyler. I'll take it from here."
