The truck pulled into the crowded school parking lot. Oaklynn turned it off and shoved her keys in her pocket. I followed close behind her as she walked into my old high school I formerly and she currently calls hell. She removed her hat as not to have to hear "dress code" from teachers all day. She walked straight into the back of the cafeteria to a table with a couple guys.

"Hey Chev. Hey Tex," Oaklynn said to the boys sitting there eating the crappy school breakfast, I think it was supposed to be biscuits and gravy.

"Hey Oak," the blonde tall one said.

She sat down next to him as he ate his breakfast and a shorter brown haired one was on the other side of him on his phone. From the three talking I determined the tall blonde hick is Tex and the short annoying one obsessed with Facebook market place is Chev.

"Are you going ridin with us this weekend?" Tex said to Oaklynn.

"I don't know, maybe," she said tired.

"Come on you haven't went with us to Wildcat since your brother's accident."

"Or we can all go fishin," Chev chimed in, "holy fuck look at this truck."

"Damn, 75 Chevy. Where at?" Odessa asked.

"Canada."

"Fuck Canada," she said. I laughed at her response and the demon seemed to be gone.

"We go fishin every weekend, time to do somethin different," Tex told him.

Then the bell rang to go to first period. I followed her to her first class: art.

"Hey Bear," she said to a large man with long black hair sitting at a table. She hung her backpack on the chair next to him and sat down.

"Hey bitch was's up," he said. He put his hand out. She pulled her vape out of her pocket and handed it to him as if that was the normal. "Oh I got a video to show you." He pulled out his phone and showed her a TikTok video.

It was a man screaming with heart felt music in the background, "Love is confusing, I know that, but when are you gonna get your head out of the G0d d@mn gutter. Their gone they don't love you anymore. They stopped replying, they stopped the calls they stopped communication, but why do you still reach out. You're just hurting yourself even more. You gotta let go."

"Fuck you. Give me my shit back," she said and he handed her back the Novo X. She took a hard hit waiting for teacher to come in.

"You know I'm right. You've wasted two years on a guy who has ignored you and had SOMEONE ELSE tell you to back off of him. Give up on the motorcycle dream boy and find someone who gives a damn," he said to her. Holy shit he's talking about ME! But I do give a damn. Is that really what her friends think of me?

"Shut the fuck up. You don't know Darry like I do. I'll be 18 in two months. He was looking out for himself. Your 18 if a 13 year old hit you up right now you'd block her and have me fight the bitch. He's a good guy and things could be different now. He said before when I turned 18 we could try," she said to him. Does she really still love me? After everything I've done to her, all the heartache and bullshit, she was defending me to one of her best friends.

"Yeah before he had your boss tell you to stay away from him over a fuckin selfie. I just don't wanna see you get hurt like you have before. I know how it feels and I know the bullshit you've gone through. You deserve a good guy for once, you really need a win," he said with a hurt look on his face.
