She never truly went to sleep that night: there was something lingering in the back of her mind, something that had happened earlier when she was at Spamton's shop.
She remembered Susie, Ralsie and that kid named Kris. Something about them put her on edge, specifically Kris. From the way Susie looked one would imagine she would have that effect, but if the girl was being honest, Susie just put fright in her not unease. Kris, was a human, such as the girl, so why did her body tell her that there was something to worry about? Was it the fact that she couldn't see his eyes or that his bangs had been slightly illuminated in red light? She didn't know, but she made a mental note to keep an eye on them if she saw that group again.
She put the Issue to the back of her mind as she looked at Spamton who was still wrapped up in her cloak. The small puppet would most likely wake up soon-it had been a few hours- so the girl just sat there.
During that time, she heard Spamton mutter incoherent words, words that didn't really make her feel any better. Her thoughts drifted to a past experience of something that happened when she was in danger on the brink of insanity-.
At that moment Spamton stirred from his sleeping state and looked up at her.
"Morning-well if you can call it that here-" she said.
"MORNING [mud] I HOPE YOU [got a good deal] OF SLEEP."
She smiled nervously, trying to hide the fact that she didn't sleep at all, "Sure, yes, I got sleep" she said quickly.
Spamton gave a spectacle look before shrugging and untangling himself out of the cloak.
The girl smiled and stood up. "What's on the agenda today?"
"TALKING TO [the little sponge] AND [making a deal]"
The girl arched an eyebrow in confusion.
In turn, Spamton waved a hand and ushered her to follow.
They came to the trash heap and by default, Spamton's shop.
Spamton got behind the counter and the girl sat on a nearby stool she knew hadn't been there the day prior.
They sat in silence, and in that silence an unease krept over the girl, at first she thought it might have been caused by how tired she was.
That fact was washed away when It grew in strength when she heard the voices of Susie and Ralsie coming closer.
The door opened and Kris was standing there. Their bangs hung over their face and the armor they wore shined.
A shiver ran down the girl's back, an echo of a whisper grazed her ears.
She didn't know what it meant or what the whisper was but she wanted nothing to do with it. Her body trembled slightly as her thoughts changed from staying to wanting to flee.
Spamton was oblivious to his friend's reaction upon seeming Kris, for he was beaming and looked as though he would jump on the counter and dance with joy.
"HEY EVERY ! IT'S ME SPAMTON G SPAMTON!"
The girl closed her eyes and looked away, trying desperately to get her heart to stop pounding in her head and told herself repeatedly that she "could make it. It will be fine. Kris is just another person, why am I afraid?."
When her eyes opened again, they were met with the dim lighting of the room with the silent phone. That for some reason just made her uneasiness grow into pure terror. She looked at Spamton who was still eagerly talking to Kris
"Sp-Spamton?" She croaked out, her voice sounding alien to her own ears.
The over energetic puppet looked over suddenly, tilting his head, a note of worry in his eyes apon hearing her.
"I think- I just- I'll be outside" she stepped outside, making sure not to look at Kris.
Something wasn't right, it just wasn't.
And then she bumped into Susie.
"Hey! Watch where-" Susie's raised hand came down back to her side "You're. . Going. . ."
The girl didn't register the words, the terror hadn't gone away yet, she needed to get away, away from it. Now, now, now.
The girl's legs took her away from the shop, away from the trash heap and she didn't stop until she was standing on the sidewalk. As she caught her breath, the terror slowly drained from her- along with the unease. She looked to the street and saw cars go by, people were walking past her giving her odd looks, but she could care less.
She was staying away from Kris, that was that.
