Benjamin scurried through the tall grass, excited to finally go to the river now that he had the time to. His life was busy as a forest borrower since he constantly had to make sure everything was stocked up, but he finally managed to make sure he had all his necessities in his home before leaving for the day. Benjamin had been planning to go to the river for a while now since he knew it had some pretty neat rocks, and he wanted to add a little decoration to his home.

Benjamin's ears perked up as he heard running water in the distance. He smiled to himself and picked up the pace, excited to finally have reached the river. He slowed down to a walk as he pushed a side a couple tall blades of grass, grinning as he saw the river ahead. Jumping off the small ledge ahead of him he landed in the dirt, running towards the river and stopping at the edge to peer into the clear water. Benjamin giggled to himself as he saw his own messy sandy blonde hair, green eyes, and pale skin, along with his earthy green jacket and black pants reflecting back to him in the water. He stepped into the water, causing small ripples to spread amongst the liquid. It was a little chilly, but it wasn't too bad since it was just his ankles. He searched the water, smiling to himself as he saw a rock that had a beautiful black coat and a white swirly pattern on it. He bent down and picked the rock up, examining it out of the river.

"Perfect." Benjamin smiled. He shuffled to the shore and placed the rock down, turning around again to search further into the river. As Benjamin waded further into the river feeling the current tug on his ankles, he suddenly heard a loud gasp behind him. He paused, turning around to see what it was. His eyes widened as he made eye contact with a human, and they stared directly back at him with wide brown eyes.

Benjamin stumbled back out of surprise, but when he did so his foot caught on a rock and he fell into the cold water. As he resurfaced he suddenly realized the current was taking him down the river, leading to a terrifying drop that would surely be his demise. Benjamin yelped and began to paddle against the current, but it was far too strong for his tiny body and pulled him along anyway. He kept checking over his shoulder to see how close the waterfall had gotten, getting more panicked every time as it just kept getting closer. The water was too strong, not to mention freezing since his whole body was submerged in it. It made his muscles stiffen so he couldn't do much to fight against the current, except by maybe flapping his arms around. Benjamin took one last glance, and before he realized it he was starting to tip over the edge. He screeched as his arms paddles faster, but the current continued to push him over. But right before it had the chance to, a shadow fell over Benjamin and he was scooped up from the water.

Vertigo hit Benjamin's body as he was lifted away from the water, now freezing with his wet clothes clinging to his body. As the movement slowed down he coughed a couple times, trying to catch his breath after paddling for his life.

"Are you ok?"

Benjamin froze. He dared to let his eyes travel towards the voice, gasping as he realized it was the same human from before. His head whipped around, realizing that he was sitting in the human's cupped hands, and the human hadn't tried to hurt him yet. In fact, he was the one who saved him from the river! But why?

"Um, are you hurt at all or anything?" The human asked gently, seeing as the borrower didn't respond before. Benjamin looked up to meet the human's golden brown eyes, swallowing nervously before he gave his reply.

"Y-yeah, I'm ok." Benjamin stammered. The human relaxed his shoulders and sighed thankfully.

"Thank goodness," he smiled, "but what were you doing that far out in the river anyway?"

"I-I was searching for rocks." Benjamin admitted quietly, fiddling with his hands.

"Rocks?" The human repeated. Benjamin nodded.
