Chapter 16

Nathan couldn't get him out of his mind. No matter how hard he tried, no matter what he has done, he misses the boss more. Just when he was about to move on, Nadeem appeared out of nowhere. Reminding him of what losses he has currently. He hates this. He hates that man.

"Come on! We should dance." Greyson shouts throughout the blasting music.

Nathan finished his shot. Savoring the sour drink. He can feel it burn down through his lungs. But it couldn't be compared with the burn on his chest. He knows something is missing. Something that he craves for.

Greyson on the other hand seems to not notice anything. He pulls his man's hand to the dance floor. Nathan almost didn't realize anything. Not because he's drunk. But, because his mind is somewhere else.

"You didn't seem to enjoy it."

Nathan just realizes how close they are until that warm breath whispers in his ear. Greyson is shorter than him. So, the boy is practically hanging on his neck making his mouth touch Nathan's neck.

"Do you want to go back?" Greyson asks softly.

Nathan laugh. He brings himself wrapping his hand around the small body. "Don't be silly. This is fun." Lies. He did not have fun at all. The alcohol is burning. The music is spinning. And the person... The person is not who he wants. So, nothing is fun for him.

Again, Greyson did not notice anything he continue swaying his body along with Nathan. And the older one just follows without any protest. He does not want the boy to notice anything.

Nathan can hear a small whimper. That's when he realizes that Greyson is grinding against his crotch. So, he presses it back. Try to synchronize with the boy. The more he press the more he did not enjoy it. It's different. It's not him to be seduced. It's not him to be the one in control.

Greyson is enjoying it very much. He feels like they are moving one step forward by this. So, he likes it. He just did not know that the things he craves are the things Nathan craves from someone else. He still trying to figure out what he feels about the older one. But, he knows it will be positive.

Nathan could not take it any longer. He pulls out just to make everything stop. When he realizes Greyson's expression turns into confusion and rejection, he acts like he wants to puke.

"Oh my God. Are you okay?" Greyson asks with concern.

Nathan fake gagging again. "God... I think I drink too much. I need to let it out." Lies.

"Let's go to the bathroom."

"No, no!" Nathan is quick to reject it. "I-I just don't like it when people are around and I'm throwing up. Just wait here."

He didn't wait for any answer as he start to stumble away. Thankfully no sign of Greyson following him. God, he feels suffocated. If possible, he wants to just go home. He didn't know why in the first place he decided to go there. But then, he did it anyway. To be honest, he wants to puke. This is not him. This is far from himself. Did he deserve this?

The world around spinning. He knows for sure he will fall and he doesn't care anymore. He's too tired to keep going. That's when he feels a hand grabbing his arm. For a second, he sees Nadeem. Wearing his suit just as hot as usual. The music starts to fade away. He let a stranger take him far away.

Only when his back hit the cold wall does he gets back to reality. He's in the empty bathroom. He blinks a little just to make sure of what was happening. That's when he clearly sees the person in front of him. It's the boss. It's Nadeem. Nathan almost laughs at how pitiful he is imagining that man like that.

"Who is he?"

The voice rang in Nathan's ear. He knows it's Nadeem's voice. He stares at the furious-looking man.

"Who's that boy with you, princess?"

It struck like a lightning. It's definitely Nadeem. All the pain comes back. The cold turns into fire.

"It's none of your business." Nathan spat.

"I ask you nicely before I warn him myself." Nadeem tries to control his anger.

"Warn him?" Nathan laughs shakily. "Who are you to do that?"

Nadeem takes a deep breath. "I don't mind if you want to fool around. But you keep seeing him."

Nathan frown. "How do you know?"

No answer. That sends shivers down on Nathan's spine. How did he know? Did he see them all this time?

"Let's go home." Nadeem grabs the boy's hand. And of course, he refuses.

"Let me go!"

"Nathan—"

"Let me go!" Nathan snatches his hand away. "You need to learn how to stay away from me, Nadeem."

Nothing could go through Nadeem's mind as he grab Nathan's wrist. The boy almost couldn't fight him. And when he managed to do it, a loud slap touch the boss' cheek.

Nathan gasps. He almost couldn't believe he did it. But he try to keep his expression like he was proud. Nadeem, on the other hand, doesn't seem shocked. He look at the boy like he was accepting the slap.

"You need to accept the fact that you have a beautiful wife and married happily," Nathan speaks. "And let me move on. I deserve to have my own happiness. I deserve to have someone too."

Nadeem just stares at him. It's not intense. It is full of pain. Nathan starts to regret slapping him.

"It's over, Nadeem." It's almost come out as a whisper. "You need to know that there's nothing we can do about it. I can't be a mistress. I can't be your side partner. In the end—" Nathan takes a deep breath. "Someone else already wearing your ring. And that's where you going to. While me? I don't have anyone to go to."

Nadeem steps back a little. What he was hearing is the truth. He can't deny it. And he doesn't have anything prepared to protest.

"I couldn't throw you away from my mind."

Same. But Nathan couldn't say it out loud.

"You're everywhere," Nadeem said. "I don't know what to do. I'm not ready to let you go. I don't even know if I can."

"You need to keep trying," Nathan speak the lie he always failed to do. "Trust me. One day, you don't even remember who I am."

That is the thing that none of them could ever do it. The connection already become too strong. Nadeem knows from the beginning this will happen. He just never expect it to be so soon. While Nathan, he knows what they have is too good to be true. And he is hitting the reality on his own face every day when he wakes up. Tells himself that he stands on a different side of the world from the boss.

"Goodbye, Nadeem," Nathan mumble softly before walking away. And it sounds like it will be coming true this time.
