"Oh, look at me going on and on like you got all the time in the world. Let me go on and get out..." she stood to leave but Wanda quickly panicked she would see the stork.
"Wait!" Wanda shouted out suddenly. "No. Tell me about the temp job." Wanda smiled as she narrowly missed seeing the stork.
"Oh, that's my girl. So, yesterday my boss, Mr. Haddox, was going crazy working on the slogan for a new breakfast cereal. You know, the one with the little marshmallow Moonmen?" Natalie continued her story.
"Oh." You both watched the stork closely as it walked around the couch.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, those. So, it's 10 minutes before the big presentation, and Mr. Haddox has got nothing." Natalie tells you. Wanda sends a puff of red smoke to make the stork disappear but it doesn't work and the animal remains in its place. "Nothing, that is, except the worst case of hiccups I ever did see." She laughed, causing you to smile back weakly, still focused on the stork problem. The stork walked closer and you exchanged worried looks with your sister.
"Oh, Wanda. He couldn't get out one word, let alone a whole pitch!" Natalie laughed out some more. Wanda laughed nervously as she tried to get rid of the stork again but it stayed again. "So I'm tryin' every trick in the book to help this poor man. I'm hidin' behind filing cabinets and jumpin' out when he least expects it, like, boom!" Wanda threw an orange at the stork to make it run away as she still held the fruit bowl over her bump. "Wanda!" Natalie panicked at he sudden outburst. The stork made a noise as it ran to hide and Natalie stood up with panic. "What was that? Did you hear that?"
"No." Wanda shook her head.
"It was like a chattering sound, like..." Natalie trailed trying to think.
"Oh! Like a...chchchchchch" you imitated the noise, not knowing what else to do.
"Yeah."
"That's my new ice maker built right into the fridge." Wanda claimed, covering up the problem.
"Oh!" Natalie gasped and Wanda and you both chuckled nervously. "You're fancy." Natalie giggles with the wave of her hand. She sat back down on the couch and continued her story.
"So now, at this point, I am helping Mr. Haddox do a handstand under the water cooler..." Natalie continued as Wanda started trying her breathing exercises some more and you took note of this. "...because, you know, why not try a little upside down, drink those hiccups away. And wouldn't you know it, in that moment, in walks the client." Wanda watched the stork walk around to the front of the couch with worry.
"Oh, no." You sighed.
"Oh, yes. Oh, yes. But you know me, Wanda, I keeps my cool, no matter what's goin' down. I look at the client, and I look at Mr. Haddox's feet floating in the air next to me..." the stork try's to nip at Natalie's pants while she continued with excitement. "...and I look back at the client, and I say, "Gravity Os: launch into your day, the right way."" She laughed, kicking her feet to cross her legs, scaring the stork back into the nursery.
"Thank you." Wanda laughed softly.
"Yes, and that's exactly what Mr. Haddox said right before he told me to clean out my desk."
"Oh, no, Natalie! He didn't fire you." Wanda gasped at the sudden change of mood in Natalies voice.
"Oh, sugar. He hired me!" She cheered proudly, throwing her hands into the air.
"Oh!"
"Congratulations" you smiled to her, temporarily forgetting your problems.
"Oh, Wanda! Y/n! I landed a promotion." Natalie stood up. Wand began breathing heavily and you grew worried for her, remembering that you needed to wrap this up and get Natalie out soon. "And now that I've gone all corporate, I need some office supplies. Which brings me to my question. Do y'all still keep those in your spare room?" She walked towards the nursery, your eyes shooting wide. "Because I was hoping you wouldn't mind sharing with your good friend." Natalie continued on towards the room as Wanda stood and you rushed after her.
"Wait, wait!" You panicked. She walked into the nursery to find the stork standing still against the painting of the stork so that she doesn't notice it. You sighed and Wanda placed down the fruits to grab a flower pot instead.
"Is that what I think it is?" Natalie questioned.
"Oh, a stork, yes! I can explain." You laughed nervously.
"No, the crib!" Natalie corrected her thought. Wanda suddenly dropped the vase in a flash of pain and gasped as it shattered.
"Wanda!" You worried facing her.
"It's coming. Oh. The baby's coming."
"You're pregnant?" Natalie raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"Help me get her to the living room" you ordered Natalie, each of you grabbing one of Wandas arms and guiding her back to the room you were just in.
"Okay, Wanda. Now, let's get you comfortable. Okay?" Natalie grabbed some pillows from the couch to set up a comfortable area.
"I think I'm gonna lay down right here." Wanda groaned.
"Okay." You lowered her onto the pillows that had been placed on the floor behind the couch, making sure she was safe and comfortable. A vacuum nearby starts to go haywire as Wandas pain increases. "Vision ran to get the doctor. He'll be back soon." You told your friend.
"No, no, there's not enough time for that. Relax. Relax." Natalie took over the situation, seemingly knowing how to handle it well.
"You okay Wanda?" You looked to her with worry. Natalie grabbed the bucket and made her way towards the kitchen to get some supplies. She gave you a weary nod and you held her hand tightly in yours.
"You know your breathing, right?" Natalie called back and you walked her through it.
"Wanda, I can't hear you?" She reminded and Wanda started focusing more and everything around the house starts to spin and go crazy.
"I may be late to the party, but I imagine there is a logical explanation for this." Natalie stated as she rushed back in past the light that suddenly dropped onto the table.
"Oh, it's all perfectly natural!" Wanda claims before screaming in pain again.
"Hey, hey! You're doing great. You're doing great. Look at me. Look at me." You reminded, trying to keep her calm so that the house doesn't explode.
"Come on." Natalie urged as she did the breathing too.
"I can't do this." Wanda whispered.
"Yes, you can." You told her proudly.
"I can't. I can't." She shook her head quietly.
"You can do this. Yes, you can. You can do this. It's time to start pushing." You told her the report.
"Oh." Wanda gasped as Natalie checked under her dress.
"You ready?" You looked in your sisters eyes as she shook her head 'no'.
"You're ready. You're ready. Push. Push, Wanda. Push!" Natalie prompted. "Push! That a girl!" Natalie said as Wanda shouted out some more. Everything in the house is spinning and flickering, but stopped as soon as a baby cry was heard.
