♠♥Chapter 9♣♦
After a hot shower, Charlie braids her long hair down her back, before doing her makeup. She mostly focuses on her eye, making the Caribbean blue hue her irises pop against the dark shadows, and thick black eyeliner. Walking into her room, she runs up the spiral staircase to her hidden room to dig out her work clothes.
She throws on her black leather corset top and adjusts the wing like straps that crisscross her back. Pairing it with a pair of leather pants that openly lace up the outside of her legs, and a large, black shoulder holster hood that covers her hair. For concealment of her identity, she added a black cloth mask that looks like a surgical mask, covering half of her face.
Prancing down the staircase, looking like a fallen angel, she gives Asher a little spin. "Ta-dah! Or almost ta-dah. I wear gloves to avoid leaving fingerprints, but basically this is it!"
Asher runs an appraising gaze over her. "I don't like the mask."
Frowning as she touches her mask to see if it isn't adjusted right, "Why?"
"Because..." Striding forward, he captures her and pulls her close. "I can't kiss you."
Slipping the mask down, she gives him a smile. "Better?"
"Yes." Capturing her mouth, Asher kisses her till they both have to separate. "Remember to trust Grimm. He's got a sense for things even if he is broody, as you call him."
"Yeah, yeah," she huffs. "He better not tick Juan off, though. He needs to be semi-charming if Juan is behaving himself."
"Grimm knows how to behave in high society. He can manage a petty human trafficker, which Juan is, Little Fox. Keep that in mind."
"I know exactly what Juan is, Asher. I've been working with him for a year now." She irritably grumbles under her breath, as her brows furrow. "You act like this is my first job. I know what I'm doing."
"No, I'm acting like you're worried you're being set up." He runs his fingers through her hair. "And I'm reminding you what you could be getting into and why listening to my brother matters."
His expression turns serious. "Remember, he has triggers which will work to your benefit. Use them to run if you have to."
"Juan isn't my biggest paying client, but he is my most consistent one. I need tonight to go smoothly. And right now, my biggest concern is your brother fucking this up for me. I like Grimm, don't get me wrong, but I don't trust him, and I certainly don't like the idea of working with him." Charlie pulls her mask back into place before pulling away and grabbing her black running shoes.
"Grimm won't mess with your deal. Death is many things, but if he couldn't do deals himself or come alone with me for some of the bigger ones, we wouldn't be the Nightmare twins."
