5 - Insane Dream Invader

Angrily walking into the crystal shop he was just at only six days ago, Ashton was on a personal mission of returning his crystal ball of rose quartz.

He didn't bother with the hello's or how are you's. Instead he placed the cloth bag that held the rose quartz onto the counter while he looked at Luke with determination to get rid of the crystal running through his veins.

"You need to take this back. I don't even care about the money at this point. Just take it."

"Why?" Luke asked confused, gently grabbing the bag and placing it somewhere behind the counter where Ashton couldn't see.

"You know why."

"That's one thing I actually don't."

Ashton crossed his arms annoyed, staring ahead at the blonde. He wished none of this happened. It all started with the crystal, so if he got rid of it then maybe it would end with the crystal as well.

"Tell me what's wrong."

"All I wanted was love! And instead I get some insane dream invader!"

"An insane dream invader you say?" Luke asked entertained, flashing his pearly whites like it was a joke.

"This isn't funny." Ashton narrowed his eyes at the man, "He's real and his name is Calum. He said he loves me."

"So it did it's purpose? I told you it's a special one."

"You're not listening to me!" Ashton tried, "Calum is not...he's not human, he's something else. I don't know what's going on or what he truly wants, but it can't be anything good. All I do know is that it's the crystal's fault."

"Ashton, calm down. Just go home and relax, yeah?"

"Once this crystal is gone then I'll be able to relax. Life will go back to normal and I won't have to worry about Calum anymore."

"You manifested and got what you wanted. Now that you have it you're willing to give it away?"

"I didn't want this." Ashton shook his head, "I didn't want constant fear. It's all Calum has given me."

"But he's also given you love?"

"Just because he said he loves me doesn't mean he's given me love."

"Interesting." Luke hummed intrigued, "And what do you mean by 'he's not human?'"

"He appears in my dreams and controls what I can and cannot do. I thought they were just nightmares brought upon my imagination. But he's real and he's too powerful. I don't understand how it's possible."

Luke nodded silently, since he didn't know how to respond to a customer telling him that someone who loves them isn't human. He's heard his fair share of crazy stories in the shop, but this one probably took the number one spot.

He glanced at the cloth bag, hoping for the day the crystal ball was going to get it's permanent home.

"When I bought rose quartz from you this wasn't what I was expecting." Ashton finally said once Luke was stuck in his silence.

"The universe works in mysterious ways. It's taking you down the path you were destined to follow."

"There's no way I was destined to follow an eternity of constant fear."

"Why do you fear him if he loves you?"

"Because...I..." Ashton paused, thinking of his answer. But he couldn't come up with anything. Why was he truly scared of Calum?

There was the fact that he definitely wasn't human. But something within him told Ashton that it wasn't the case.

It wasn't that Calum was powerful and from a world other than this one. It was because of the fact that he truly did love Ashton.

The one thing Ashton had been manifesting for his whole life was finally given to him. But it was given to him at such a large and dramatic rate that Ashton didn't know how to process it or accept it. It was all too sudden and extreme.

That's why he was scared. And Ashton understood it. Love was something he wanted, but now it was something that scared him.

"Just keep the crystal. Okay? I don't want anything to do with it anymore."

"It's safe with me." Luke grinned.

"Be careful with it, Luke."

"I'm aware. Don't worry about me. Like I said, just go home and relax. It looks like you need it."

"Wow thanks." Ashton said sarcastically, "But will do. I drastically need some peaceful sleep without Calum invading it."

Luke laughed softly, giving his goodbyes when the customer exited the store. Ashton happily ventured back home, feeling like a weight was lifted off his shoulder. He was finally away from the crystal and away from Calum.

He didn't have to face his fear anymore. And he would definitely be more careful with his manifestations whenever he would chant them next.

He made it home in no time due to his giddy fast pace. Instantly he went for his room, since he needed to catch up on his sleep and fix his large level of fatigue.

But his heart dropped as soon as he entered his bedroom. There standing on his jewelry stand was the crystal ball he just gave back to Luke.

He dropped to the ground on his knees, staring at the crystal in defeat. The stressful tears started forming within seconds, running down his red cheeks as glistening wet marks.

In that moment Ashton realized something awfully terrible...

No matter what he did or how hard he tried, Ashton wasn't getting rid of the crystal or of Calum.
