Zia was the first to break the silence. It brought us back from our reverie.
"What... What did he say? I do not believe this. Dhruva left to meet you? Then how come he did not reach there? Where did he disappear?"
Ved piped in, "not just him, the whole family."
"This whole thing is weird. Aisa bhi kya ho gaya tha?" Added Aaru.
"When he contacted me first a few months ago, I did not even bother asking him what happened. Just his mere return was enough. But now I think that was a mistake. I should have asked him."
"Don't stress about it, Priyank. We all accepted his return without questioning him. But I feel there has more than that meets the eye. I just don't understand why Dhruva did not bother to tell us then or now."
They looked at me and realised I hadn't spoken a word since Atharva left. My brain had stopped working.
It was when Ved called me, I came back to my senses.
"Arya? Arya? Are you alright?"
"Huh?" I replied.
"I asked, are you ok? You looked lost."
"Of course she is! I can hardly imagine what you are feeling after what Atharva said," Zia replied.
I finally replied, "I have no idea what to say, guys. I don't even want to think about it right now. I have this feeling that whatever happened was something major."
"Yeah! Same." Priyank added. "All I know is we are in this together. Whatever it is, we will deal with it."
"Hopefully, we will find out soon. Let us focus on the current situation now. We will discuss this after Dhruva recovers," replied Aaru.
With that, it was decided to keep the topic aside for a while.
************************************
We were yet to receive any updates on his health. It had been around two hours since I brought him in. The wait was excruciatingly long.
The rest of the police team arrived after a while. We saw as the Inspector went to meet the attending doctor to enquire about Dhruva's condition. When they were done, the Inspector made his way towards me.
Police inspector enquired, "Miss Arya?"
"Yes, sir?" I replied.
"Can I have a word with you?"
"Of course, sir!"
"I will be asking a few questions. We need to know what happened from your perspective."
"Sure Sir."
"Firstly. Full name and relation with the patient."
"Arya Pandit." I hesitated just for a second. "We have been friends for a long time, Dhruva and I."
With that, the questioning began. After reciting what I knew, he took my statement.
Later, he informed me that the witnesses had given their statements, and the guy was already in custody. We were lucky enough that he did not get a chance to flee. Not saying that he would have. But who knows.
They gave away little to no information regarding Dhruva's health. As I returned, Zia spoke.
"You should change your clothes."
"Huh??"
They gestured to my outfit. When I looked down, I realised that my shirt was a little stained with blood.
Dhruva's blood.
"Right. I forgot about that."
Aaru gave me the spare clothes she had brought with her, and I left to make myself a bit presentable.
***********************************
Atharva and his parents came out of the doctor's cabin after a while. Judging by their expressions, they did not look good. But definitely better than before.
The five of us were anxiously waiting for the updates. But after seeing their expressions, we relaxed a bit.
"Uncle! Aunty! Is Dhruva ok?"
"It's nothing serious, right?"
"What did the doctor say?"
"Are you filing a police complaint?"
We did not mean to overwhelm them, but could not help ourselves.
Uncle informed us that Dhruva was doing well. He had hit a rock when he landed, due to which he injured his head. But luckily, he got away with a minor concussion, a fractured hand and a few bruises. Nothing major. But still, he would be kept under observation for a few days. Uncle and Aunty kept thanking me again and again. But since no visitors were allowed, they asked us to go home and rest.
We left the hospital with a promise to come back soon.
