With all the excitement from the game, we took a break for cocktails and starters.

“That was fun, wasn’t it?” asked Priyank.

Aaru excitedly replied, “yes! That was amazing!”

We all murmured our agreements. If this party is going so great, I wonder what they have planned for the retreat. With this thought, I was getting excited for the next two days.

After a while, Ramya made her way to the stage.
“I hope you guys are enjoying the party. Because I know I am! Don’t worry, we have a lot planned for these three days. But now we can surely have some karaoke time, right?”

Yells of excitement were heard from everyone.

Ramya continued, “We shall stick with the teams already formed. Rules are pretty simple since we have none! Since we are here to reminisce about our school days, the theme would be to sing a song from our school era. We shall continue withdrawing team numbers from the bowl so that it will be random. Only one chance per team. So, is everyone ready?”

“Yesssssss!” cheered everyone.

“Oh! I almost forgot. There is a twist. You guys did not think this would be that easy, did you? We have another bowl, wherein there are different types/genres of Bollywood music. A team member will pick a chit, see the genre and decide the song without any help from others. Then inform the musicians which song they chose. Others have to guess the song when the music plays. If they guess correctly, the team shall start singing. Ok?”

“Yes!”

“So, let us start! The first team is……. Team 3.”

Prithvi from the team picked a chit and informed us that they got ‘Friendship’. Every person recognised one of the iconic songs, 'Dil Chahta hai’ and started singing along with them.
And thus continued our game for a while.

Next was Team 8, who got the theme ‘Competition’ and chose ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’.

Then came Team 1, who got ‘Comedy’ and sang ‘Maa Da Laadla Bigad Gaya’.

Team 9 got the theme ‘Inspirational’ and sang ‘Chale Chalo.

Team 7 came in next, which got ‘Item number’ and sang ‘Babuji Zara Dheere Chalo’.

Next was Team 4, who got a ‘Romantic’ theme. They chose to sing ‘Pehli Nazar Mein’.

Then it was the turn of Team 5, who got the theme ‘Sufi’ and chose to sing the beautiful song ‘Allah Ke Bande’.

After that, Team 10 got the theme ‘Party song’ and sang ‘Mauja hi Mauja’.

Dhruva picked the chit for our team, which was next. Our theme was ‘Sad song’. How fitting! It was decided that Dhruva and I would take the lead, and others would sing the chorus. As the music started, we correctly guessed the song as ‘Tu Jaane naa'. And we began singing.

When the following verse started, Dhruva turned towards me, looked straight into my eyes and started singing. It felt like it was just the two of us in the room, singing for each other.
“Nigahon mein dekho meri, jo hai bas gayaaa..
Woh hai milta tumse hubahuu..
Ooo, jaane teri aankhein thi ya, baatein thi wajaaa..
Hue tum jo dil ki aarzoo...
Tum paas ho ke bhi, tum aas ho ke bhiii, ehsaas ho kee bhi, apne nahi...

Aise hain, humko gile, tumse na jaane kyun.
Meelon ke, hain faasle, tum se na jaane kyun.ooo...
Tu jaane na .. tu jaane na .. tu jaane na .. tu jaane na……….”

Everyone praised our singing once we were done. Then Team 2, the last one for the evening, went on the stage who got the theme- ‘Party’. They ended the game by singing ‘It’s the time to Disco’.

Meanwhile, I was still in a state of shock.
What just happened?
Why did he choose that song?
Why was he looking at me while singing?
What did his looks mean?

The sound of applause brought me back from my reverie. When I looked at him, he was looking straight at me, gauging my expression. I was baffled about what happened. But I decided to dwell on it later.

Finally, after such an entertaining game, it was time for dinner. Soft music was playing in the background as we had our delicious food and conversed with each other.

Towards the end of the party, a photo booth was arranged where everyone got busy clicking photos with others. In the end, we retook our class photo.

And with that, the party was a wrap!
