I could hear him say " what the hell" under his breath, thinking I didn't hear. I badly wanted to ask him  every question that had ever popped up in my mind. Not now especially not here.

People started filling up the chairs and it was almost time to begin. I saw a program on one of the seats.  I walked up across the passage to the woody chair with a soft emerald green cushion on it. After the reading of eulogies, they would open the casket...

"Please everyone" the preacher announced "take your seats".  I went back and saw that Miss Mayfield was sitting on her chair. An unrecognizable man was standing in front her.

The man looked in his late thirties . He had chocolate brown hear. He had an unusually long nose which looked crooked from the side.

He had a leather jacket on and a white t-shirt on with a oily stain. A belly was quite noticeable. He had long dark jeans on. He had this cliché look about him. cliché detective look.  I took my seat and sure enough he looked at me and introduced himself as Detective Holmes "ain't not'in I can't solve"  he said . His stare bore deep in my soul . Then he walked to the back of the room where the entrance was. The back of the room where no son light ever lit.  In the darkness he observed everything like a shadow in the night.

The voices were muted and I was in my own oblivion throughout the ceremony.

"Hun your up next "

Miss Mayfield said... Snapping me out of my trance like state.  The preacher was still talking and minutes later he called me up as Martin's" dear friend ".

I stood up. It felt like the world and heaven above rested on my shoulders.  I scanned the faces in the room.  It was full of faces some I recognized and others were misteries.

I slowly and peculiarly unfolded the paper on which I spilled all my thoughts and  tears.

My voice was trembling as I started :

Martin was  a son, brother, teammate and the  special one ,my hearts keeper. Now a lot of you may know that Martin loved taking photos.  I never understood why.
But now I do :

-We would always take photos together. Last year he brought me a wooden box carved on it was M & R inside a circle. Not a heart because circles are infinite and hearts eventually break.
In side the box was thousand of  photos of all our moments we shared and in two years we had lots of moments.
In two years you gain a lot of memories that you'll keep forever. -

They say a picture says a thousands words but ours said only 3...

Martin always teased me for not liking the water like him ,  not being a huge fan of swimming. But these days when  I find myself loving it in the water because I think of Martin.
His big bear hugs the smell of chlorine and mint...  The smell I'll miss for ever.
Those little things I'll remember for a big part of my life...

I moved closer to the casket and touched the closed light brown.  My voice cracked as I whispered "infinity ".

Some people started crying when I had finished. I spotted Cindy with a unusual facial expression.  I went back to my seat. Miss Mayfield gave me a nod and took my hand and squeezed it.   A couple of other people also gave their eulogies.

I made my way up the stairs when people had the chance to go get food before the open casket by choice.  I touched the door handle and shot of warmth ran up my right arm as I turned it.

I walked to the window as nostalgia set in.

I saw people just passing by carefree without a worry in the world a perfect world. Their world.  While I was tearing at the seams and my world caving  whit sadness that was ineffable .

From the distance I heard a faint laughter of a child. It was like an epiphany.  I might not be okay now but I will be just like when I fell of  bike when is was younger.  I would cry my eyes out but then afterwards I'd stand up and laugh again because pain heals.

A small smile etched on my faces. "I know  you  know. "  I was startled by the  voice.  I turned and saw  Elle.

"I am not in the mood for your guessing games just tell me what you think I know " irritation crystal clear in my voice .

"Don't even try to deny it,  " she said whilst stepping closer to me . "You had the perfect motive for both murders because  Martin was cheating on you with Kaylee and you found out when they kissed at the party " she whispered in ear....
