chapter one.the summer begins
🦋✨📘🪄WHEN ELECTRA DEVERAUX WAS FIVE SHE WAS PETRIFIED OF GOING TOO DEEP IN THE SEA. She was convinced that if she went any deeper than her knees she would drown. Or float away out to sea and never see her family again. Maybe she'd be eaten by a shark. But Clara Deveraux was determined to show her that wasn't the case. So Clara did just that. She showed her.
Clara started by telling Electra "You are magic, honey, you'll be just fine. I can do it and I'm just Clara' Electra tried to argue against this notion but Clara wasn't someone to argue with. So she wadded in slowly with her five-year-old clutching her hand as tightly as she could. They slowly went deeper and deeper until they reached Electra's chest. Slowly and slowly over one summer, Electra's grip loosened and she learned to love the sea. Running in without her mother after that even though she loved playing with her mother the most.
Electra loved the sea and the beach. It reminded her of her mother. She loved a lot of things because they reminded her of Clara. Which was handy cause she lived next to the beach. And now she and Iris were gonna go bodyboarding together.
But first, she had to send this letter. She finished it, signing her name before placing it in a red envelope so she could send it to Harry. She felt bad he was stuck with his Aunt and Uncle. Especially after what he had told her about them. Electra wishes he could go somewhere else, but she's got no say. Yet.
Andrew had promised that soon he would tell her what happened during the Third Task. Electra didn't want to ask Harry.
"Here you, Hedwig," she says, handing the envelope to Harry's owl. Electra pet Hedwig lightly before she flew off back to Harry. Electra smiled as she watched the snowy owl fly away and back home.
"El!" Iris bound into the room in her yellow swimming costume covered in flowers, she was clearly ready to go, "You ready?"
"Give me a second," Electra said, unhooking the silver fairy earrings from her ears which had once been Clara's, "Can you help me put the necklace back later?" Electra asked as she fiddled with her butterfly necklace.
"Definitely," Iris responded, "Anything for you?" she beamed. Iris had almost fully returned back to her happy self. She still had moments of sadness about Cedric but Iris always tried to be positive.
Electra unbuttoned the pale blue shirt that had once been her dads that she had put on over her blue swimming costume, "I hope it's not too cold," she remarked, grabbing her towel as they made their way downstairs.
