time to get harry 🦋✨📘🪄
AVERY HAD BEEN TO YOUNG TO JOIN THE ORDER LAST TIME. That's what her brother said. Twelve years younger than her brother and while he was a fully fledged adult with a Quidditch career and a wife. Avery was still a student with a tendency to crush on the wrong kind of boys and a passion for fashion, and even after she left school she still didn't get to. She was clamouring to do something last time but her parents and Andrew wouldn't let her. This time that wasn't the case. She was the one doing things. She was fighting, even more than her brother. Avery was in the Order and she was ready for what had to be done. Even if she occasionally had to stand in the hallway of Grimmauld Place and put herself together. War was hard. And this one was a reminder of what had been lost the last time around.
Avery was thirty-four now. A lot had changed in the world. Her sister-in-law was no longer around. Her nieces were the young ones now. Not her. She was the adult. She had a job to do. Not just a job. A business.
It was strange in this house. The Black House. Avery had always thought that Sirius Black was kind of insane. In a playful what the fuck are doing? How boys are. Especially when in secondary school. But they were kind of friends, him and his whole circle. Avery thought she was more mature then she was at the time, like Electra but Electra was slightly more right. Slightly.
But as a teenager Avery called Sirius insane whenever he did almost anything, but sitting in Grimmauld Place Avery is surprised he isn't more insane. He did alright. And anyway it's not like Avery didn't have horrendous taste in boys as a teenager. But she wisened up quickly. That doesn't mean Sirius doesn't take the opportunity to bring it up.
"I mean seriously?" Sirius asks as they sit awake in the kitchen at three am, Avery dreads what Molly might think.
"Leave me alone, Black," Avery defends, "I was a teenager, like you didn't have terrible taste,"
"I had excellent taste, what are you on about?" Sirius argues. Avery scoffs.
"Yeah right," Avery rolls her eyes. Before she can say anything else they hear footsteps outside the kitchen and Avery fears it's Molly.
But it's not Molly. It's Electra. With a confused expression on her face as she stands before them in her pyjamas, "Why are you awake?" Avery asks, "It's three am,"
"I'm nocturnal Avery," Electra responds with a shrug walking over to where the cups are kept, "Anyway you two are awake, that's quite hypocritical of you," she says, grabbing one and walking over to the sink.
