"I fucked up," JJ said and chuckled bitterly. Her eyes looked down at her hands that were currently sweating with nerves. Specifically, they were looking at the gold wedding ring that was on her finger. Both agents had stopped at a nearby coffee shop before heading into work. Spencer figured some coffee for all of them would elevate some of the tension in the air. "How am I going to talk to her? We stayed so far away from each other when we left Seattle. She was on the other side of the jet and didn't say a word to anyone when we got back."
"Well, you two can't avoid each other forever. You're both happy with your jobs here so running isn't an option," Spencer said and tried to hide his laughter from JJ. The blonde woman sighed as she tapped her hand against the counter. As right on cue, the barista handed them the two drink carriers filled with coffees. They thanked her quickly before heading out the door.
"I don't know what to do," JJ said and groaned as they made their way to her car.
"I would say talk to Emily. Talking is really all you can do," Spencer said and shrugged his shoulders as he opened JJ's car door. The blonde woman stopped in her tracks and tried to calm herself from the sarcastic comment that she was going to make. She just handed Spencer the other drink carrier before getting into her car.
In no time, they were in the elevator riding up to the sixth floor. JJ had Spencer's messenger bag in one hand and her purse in the other. Spencer was persistent on carrying both drink carriers.
"Maybe I should just launch myself off the side of the building to avoid all of this. It'd have to be after the therapy appointment," JJ said and looked down at her watch. Spencer pursed his lips and looked over at JJ. "That'd be a bad look."
"Maybe don't tell your therapist that. I wouldn't want you to be sent a psychiatric ward or something for those kind of thoughts," Spencer said and nodded his head. The blonde woman chuckled softly.
"Don't worry, it was just a joke. I wouldn't check myself into one, it just seems too depressing," JJ said and shook her head. She happily reached over and grabbed her coffee from the drink carrier in his hands. The elevator doors opened up and the two of them made their way out of the small space and into the bullpen. Both were doing great until they realized Emily was walking directly towards them. JJ noticed the raven-haired woman and immediately turned around. Spencer backed up and stood in front of JJ.
"Where are you going?" Spencer whispered yelled.
"To go check myself in a psychiatric ward to get out of this situation," JJ whispered back.
"Good morning you two," Emily said and smiled softly at the two agents. JJ turned around and inhaled sharply as she looked at Emily. Both younger agents forced a warm smile at their boss. Was it a curse or a blessing that Emily was wearing red today? JJ couldn't decide in that moment.
"G-Good morning. Morning!" JJ said nervously. Spencer, if he had a free hand, would have slapped it against his forehead for JJ's nervousness.
"You two brought coffee?" Emily asked and eyed the seven cups in Spencer's hand. The two of them nodded their heads rapidly.
