Chapter 3

I will always protect my brother and sister. If something happens to either of them, I'll never forgive myself. I made a promise and I intend to stick to it. Even if it is the last thing I do.

We went into a small opening at the side of the ark. "Mom where's Tamara?" Lilly asked. I turned around with mom. Mom pops her head out a hole. "Tamara!" She shouted. "I'm coming." She told her. Mom came back inside shortly followed by Tamara. We continued walking. "P- yew, it stinks." Lilly complained. "They are opening the gates." One of them men told us. "Go. Go." Gordon ushered "Climb! Don't look down! Climb! Go!" Jackson encouraged. "Mom. Mom, something happened." Noah exclaimed.

"Tamara will you take the kids to the stairs, please?" Mom asked. She took Lilly and Noah. Jackson then came through. "Where's Gordon?" Mom asked. "No?" She said. "No." Jackson mumbled. A tear fell down my cheek. "We gotta go back. We gotta go back! We need to go back!" Mom panicked. The door then closed itself up. "Lilly!" Mom and I shouted in synch. Noah was trapped with us but Lilly and Tamara got through.

The communication thing bleeped. "Mr Curtis, Jackson, Scarlett!" The voice of Adrian sounded. "Hey, Help!" Mom shouted as Jackson and myself went to the communication bit. "It's Adrian Helmsley we met at Yellowstone." Adrian said. "That's great! Open the goddamn door!" Jackson shouted. "Your daughter is with me." He told Jackson. "Lilly!" Me, Jackson and Mom all shouted. "Where's Noah?" I heard Lilly say. "I'm right here lil!" Noah shouted. Adrian and someone talking. "It's completely submerged down there, there'd be no way to get air." Adrian said. "There's no other way." Jackson said. "But it's a suicide mission, sir." Adrian said. "I know where it is, I'll give it a try." Jackson agreed. "Dad. Wait, I wanna go with you." Noah objected. "No, Noah." I asserted. "Dad. I wanna help you." Noah complained. "No, no. You are helping me, buddy." Jackson explained. "Dad, please." Noah begged. "Remember when Lilly was born...and you wanted to be introduced
as her big brother? Well, she's scared now,
and she needs you more than ever. And if you're safe...I know that she's safe. Do you understand? You can help me out the next time." Jackson told him. Jackson then spoke to mom and left. We went back to helping the man. I turned around and saw Noah wasn't there. "Mom, where's Noah?" I asked in worry. "What?" She asked and turned around and saw Noah wasn't there. I looked around and couldn't find him. "NOAH!" I screamed.

Eventually we heard mechanical whirring and Noah appeared. I wrapped him in a tight hug. "Never scare me like that again." I mumbled into his hair. "I won't" he said and then hugged mom. "Where's your dad?" Mom asked. "He was right behind me." Noah said. We all went under and looked at the way to the hydraulics chamber. We came back up. "I thought you said he was right behind you?" I asked him. "He was." Noah defended. "Are you sure?" Mom asked. "Yeah, he was right there." Noah said. When Jackson didn't reappear Noah started to cry. "Dad" he cried. "Come on Jackson, come on." Mom cried. "Please, God. Please, please. Please, please, please. Come on, Jackson." Mom kept repeating. Suddenly I saw a light and Jackson appeared. "Dad!" I exclaimed and hugged him. "Hi honey" he mumbled. Noah and Mom joined in on the hug as well. We all hugged in peace.
