DAY 27 MONTH 01 YEAR 0001

After the events the transpired I have realised that family is more important to me than ever. With the death of Gordon and the almost death of Jackson, I have grown to accept Jackson back into my life as my father. I have also been spending a lot of time with Adrian.

I have also been spending a lot of time with Adrian

I was sitting in my room that I shared with Lilly. I was reading a book called Hostage by Clare Mackintosh. I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. I took it out and saw I had a text from Adrian.

Adrian

Adrian
Hey Scar, can you come to my room and
cut my hair, it's getting out of hand.

Scarlett
Yeah sure. I'll be there in 10.

I left my room and went to go to Adrian's but I ran into Mom in the hallway. "Where are you off to?" She asked suspiciously. "I'm going to cut a friends hair." I told her. "You don't have experience with cutting hair." Mom said in confusion. "I cut everyone's hair when I went to the military camp." I told her. She nodded and let me go.

I arrived at Adrian's room 10 minutes later. I knocked on the door and was granted access. Adrian was laying on his bed reading. I closed the door behind me. "Okay, you ready?" I asked. "Sure" he said putting his book down and getting a chair for him to sit on. "Do you have towels by any chance?" I asked. "Yeah I have a few." He replied. "Could you lay one under the chair and one on your back?" I asked as I set up my station. By that I mean take out my scissors, comb and spray bottle. Adrian did as I asked and sat in the chair. "How short do you want it?" I asked. "Like it was when we first met please." He requested. "Sure." I replied. I sprayed his hair and combed it out. I then started cutting.

"Can I ask you a question, Scar?" Adrian asked. "Mhm" I said in concentration. "Why did you have to go to a military camp?" Adrian asked. "Promise you won't think different of me?" I asked. He nodded in response.

TRIGGER WARNING

"I need you to understand that I was a very different person when I was 15. I was diagnosed with clinical depression the year before but it had gotten progressively worse as the year went on. It hit its peak when my best friend at the time committed suicide when I had just turned 14, that's why I hate my birthday. He was a loving and caring person who would do anything for those he loved. His death affected me in many ways but it mainly made me suicidal. I would never do it because of Lilly and Noah but I really contemplated it some nights. I self harmed and it was a hard time." I admitted. I stopped cutting his hair and too my sweater off. I showed him the scars on my wrist. "I'm so sorry Scar." Adrian said sincerely. I continued cutting his hair. "That's only the beginning. I slowly started to get over it about the four month mark after his death. Until...until I was raped by a man that I thought I trusted. I didn't tell anyone. I was...disgusted with myself. I guess. But I turned to unhealthy coping mechanisms. I got involved with the wrong crowd. I started smoking, drinking and doing drugs. To deal with trauma and try to get over the fear I must of slept with over 10 guys by the time I was 15. It wasn't good. My dad found out about the drugs and stuff and sent me to a military camp. I didn't hate it as much as I thought I would. I got my depression under control and learned how to defend myself. I got out when I was 17. My dad had left my mom by that point. I have a gun license as well so I always carry a pistol with me. the rest is history." I finished explaining as I finished cutting Adrian's hair. I brushed the hair from his head and shoulders and took the towel off. He got up and wrapped me in a tight hug. "I'm so sorry you had to go through all that so young, I hope you know that none of it is your fault." He said. "Thank you Adrian." I mumbled into his chest.

I cleaned everything up and stood by Adrian's desk. "What book are you reading?" I asked. "Find you first by Linwood Barclay." He told me. "Is it any good?" I asked. "It's alright." He replied.

Adrian stood in front of me. "I was wondering if in the future we would share anything else than reading and art?" Adrian asked me. "Are you asking me on a date, Dr Helmsley?" I asked. "Maybe." He replied. "I dunno my diary is pretty full. You know I have to cut peoples hair." I joked. "Oh really?" He asked. "Yeah but I might be able to make room for you" I told him. "Well I hope you can." He replied. Our lips were so close they were almost touching. "So do I." I added. Adrian closed the gap between us. I kissed him back. We were interrupted by the intercom. 'Dr Helmsley to the bridge please. Dr Helmsley to the bridge please.' "I have to go." Adrian told me. "Do you really?" I asked him. "Unfortunately yes I do." He replied. We both walked out. He went to the bridge and I went to one of the decks and met up with my family. "Where have you been?" Dad asked. "With a friend." I replied. The blinds opened and we stepped out. "Dad, when can we go home?" Lilly asked. "Well we talked about this we have to find a home out here. But there's nothing to be scared of." Dad said. "I'm not scared. No more pull-ups." Lilly whispered. Dad looked to Mom for confirmation. She nodded. "Wow that's great." Dad replied.

We looked out at the ocean as it glistened under the sun that was now visible. My family was finally together again. And I was finally happy.
