helen couldn't help but look out the window. math was usually incredibly interesting, but today she felt different. it was akin to having had someone forge a signature for an exam paper but still bring able to tell the slight differences between the original and faked one.
scary, helen thought. what is up with me, exams are near, i can't afford to not pay attention in class, even if math is one of my decent subjects...
"helen?" ms. li said, presumably to bring back the attention that helen typically paid. helen nodded, sitting up straight and attempting to store the information that ms. li was reciting.
out of habit, helen fiddled with the zip of her purse, gifted to her by- nevermind.
she finally unzipped it and fished out some 50-cent coins to fiddle around with.
in summary, she caressed the edge of the coins, feeling the texture create minor bumps in the pathway her fingers were trying to cross.
she held a particular fondness for 50-cent coins, especially the older version, because of the appealing design.
oh well, if she didn't want to fail math like the other shits in her class, time to pay attention it was.
well, at least i'm not using my coins to pay attention with.
