it was difficult to find students who didn't talk during class. it was even more difficult to find them answering questions consistently and with interest.
as of now, only a couple of students had reached that point, out of the 2 classes she taught.
so, when they didn't seem to be participating, attention certainly was paid.
in fact, it wasn't like the teacher could really berate helen for not seemingly paying attention in class. after all, everyone had bad days and today might be one of them...
plus, helen seemed more lighthearted today, not like her serious self. was this a good thing in the long-term future? it was hard to tell.
she had grown a bit close to helen when helen once approached her to clarify something that she'd read in her dictionary. obviously, other students had done such things before, but so far that year hadn't garnered such results.
it was interesting to see someone experiencing light-heartedness.
being a teacher of a disliked subject, that feeling was practically non-existent and intangible, a mirage.
all right, this was enough worrying over a student. true, as a teacher this was expected of her, but the other students deserved a well taught lesson despite everything.
