𝐒𝐘𝐑𝐄𝐍 𝐈𝐆𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐋𝐎𝐔𝐃 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐑 coming from down the hall, she grabbed her bag making sure she had all her stuff. She walked towards the back of the small one bedroom apartment seeing the the woman asleep and a man on the floor in his underwear. She walked into the room lifting up the vent and grabbing a small container. Stuffing it into her bag, she quickly got up making sure she didn't wake up the woman. Her eyes rolled to the back of her head at the loud couple arguing. The sound of glass breaking could be heard making her shake her head. All they did was argue and when they weren't doing that they were drunk off their asses from partying. Walking down the creaky steps, she sighed at the unknown of what could happen. She hoped it was better than this.
"Hey Sasha, sweetie how are you?" a voice said. She stopped in her tracks and turned around seeing who it was.
"You know that's not my name." she replied. Ms.Davis or Debra stood at 5'6 with a honey skin complexion and black hair that stayed in two braids. The lady would always try to get her do a favor which meant buy drugs.
"You're such a beautiful girl,I just know you're smart." she smiled small rubbing down her arm. Syren only stared at her with a blank expression blinking her dark brown orbs.
"Cut the crap Debra I ain't buying you no drugs. I told you plenty of times to try the whore who lives in 25." she opened the door leaving out the building.
Syren did her best to tune out the music blaring from the radio that the man held. He tapped his foot smiling and dancing around in front of the store. She couldn't tell if he was high or not. In the daytime, the streets held commotion and the regular people were either trying to buy drugs or find a spot to sleep.
Walking into the store,Syren smiled at the manager Joe. He always made sure to check up on her when she came here. He didn't know know much about her but he felt like she needed she be looked out for.
"There she is,I was starting to think you forgot about me." he counted the customer's change before giving it to him with a polite smile.
"I'd never you know me better than that Joe,I always come through."
"Alright I believe you kid what can I get for you today?" he smiled.
"I'll just take this and I'm out of here." she placed a bag of chips on the counter.
Joe rang up her chips and told her the amount. She gave him the money and grabbed the chips before waving to him and leaving.

Syren let out a big breath as she walked up the rude, slick steps hanging her head low once again in disappointment. She didn't know why she tried but she did it anyway.
"Wassup Ren,what you doing out late?" a voice said.
The voice belonged to Zion. He was a boy who she knew since she started living here. The two didn't hang out often but they did at times. They weren't considered to be best friends but they were acquaintances.
"Oh the usual trying to plan my escape." she joked.
"Well I can see that didn't work out so maybe next time." he tapped her shoulder . She smacked her lips pushing his hand away.
"Whatever I'm going to sleep." she walked off.
She pushed she plain, splintered door open coming in contact with immediate darkness. She closed the door and turned on the light and sat down on the couch rubbing her temple.
"I didn't think you would be back so soon." a man said. She recognized the voice and shivered on the inside. It was one of the regular men her mom brought home. He never bothered her and she was grateful for that but she still hated the reason why he was here.
"You know your mom is a nice lady, you should be more nice to her." he scratched his patchy beard.
"My daddy went to get milk so no need for your opinions." she rolled her eyes.
"Cute you're cute." he smirked.
"Fucking weirdo." she sighed. A gasp escaped her lips as she felt herself being yanked back by her hair. She tried to reach her hand back but it was only bent making her yell out. The man smirked at seeing her in pain.
"Let...let go." she said. He wrapped his hand around her throat dragging her up. She felt like she couldn't breathe and started to feel lightheaded. He let her go watching her cough violently holding onto her throat with tears streaming down her face.
A kick was about to be sent to stomach only for the man to be stabbed with a knife. He felt himself being stabbed three more times causing him to fall on the floor holding his side. The knife jabbed him again and again.
Syren's dark brown orbs stared at the scene in front of her,not moving an inch. The man reached out and she only continued to stare speechless.
"Let's go right now Ren." Zion's voice pulled her out her thoughts. She quickly stood to her feet with her mouth ajar. He pulled her out the apartment and told her to wait outside. She stood out in the dark alleyway trying to register what happened.
"Aye listen I know you're shocked and shit but pay attention to me." he said firmly. She slowly nodded her head.
"We need to leave right now,we can't stay any longer ." he grabbed her hand as they walked. The two made it out of the alleyway still trying to register what happened.
"I know we ain't exactly besties Syren but we can help each other." he looked down at her.
"I need to know right now before we go any further do you trust me?" he questioned.
Her orbs stared into his eyes with tears still filling her eyes. She nodded her head rubbing her throat.
"Words I need to hear you say it." he spoke.
"Yes I trust you Zion I swear." she said hoarsely.
"Aight here's the plan." he said.
