Awhile Now
I have been away for awhile now
Like the first snow of Winter after an Indian Summer
I have been asleep for awhile now
Like peaceful fatality without the everlasting commitment
I have been out of sight for awhile now
Like the abandoned soul of a love long lost to years of age
I have been detached from myself for awhile now
Like the feeling of being out of body; a foreign concept
I have been emotionally departed for awhile now
Like a separate sphere, floating and gliding from its origins
I have been insignificant for awhile now
Like a miniscule speck of stardust drifting through the entire universe
For a long, long while now, I have been forgotten
As unseen as a ghost in a crowded room...
Bruise
I know the shaking of your hands
I feel the raggedness of your breaths
I see the sweat drip from your glands
You've burned to the end of your fuse
I'm still black from your last outburst
All you do to me is bruise
Black and blue tattoos of you
Purples and old yellows, too
Every part of me you bruise
I hear the offbeat rage in your heart,
And the murderous grit of your teeth
I cry for you to stop tearing me apart
I scream a beg and a plea
On my knees and at your feet
Your hands continue bruising me
When the day's done, the beating's due,
Twenty hits for me and none for you
I already see a new bruise...
