As soon as they arrived at the palace, they were mobbed by about a dozen staff members, who handed them suits, gave them the authorized question list that Marie had planned to email them the next week, applied makeup for the camera, blew out their hair.
It was a bit too much, and throughout the whole preparation process, whenever they met each other's gaze, they couldn't help but giggle.
This is so ridiculous, thought Simon.
Please let this be over soon, thought Wilhelm.
And, just thirty minutes after they were rushed into the palace, they were whisked into a room already outfitted for the interview. The interviewer, a royal reporter, Johanna Lejon, was already in her seat reviewing the questions.
As they walked in, Ms. Lejon stood up, shook each of their hands, and greeted them with a smile.
"Welcome back, Simon and Wilhelm. I'm glad we could reorganize this on such quick notice," she said, kindly.
"Thank you," replied Wilhelm formally. "We are grateful for your willingness. You have done the royal family a great service."
Who is this guy? thought Simon. He sounds like a fucking prince!"
With that though, Simon laughed inwardly. Of course Wilhelm knows how to speak to the press. He's been doing it his entire freaking life!
As soon as they sat down, the questions began.
