When Donnell entered the house, it was after one. The only light in the house was a nightlight near the kitchen for Duka. Donnell took off his shoes so as not to make too much noise. The living room light flicked on, bathing the hall and kitchen in light. Donnell jumped and reached into his pocket.

Jace, who was sitting on the sofa, raised a brow with a smirk on his face. "You gonna taze me?"

Donnell patted his thundering heart. "You scared the crap out of me."

"I bet." Jace chuckled and stood. His bones cracked as he stretched his aching back. "Where you been?:

"I went out."

"Out?" Jace crossed his arms over his chest. Donnell wasn't like Dayqua who liked to stay up or out all hours of the night. Donnell liked his beauty sleep and often went to bed early.

"Yeah. Someone took me out for dinner."

"Have fun?"

The smile crept onto his face without Donnell's notice. "Yeah. He's...he's a nice guy."

Jace gave a small smile. "Good. Listen, you're an adult and all, and I don't like telling you what to do."

Donnell frowned a bit. "It's all good. What's up?"

"Be careful, aight?"

"What happened?"

"Nothin' too much," Jace yawned and scratched his prickly stubble. "Duka had a nightmare. He was looking for you."

"I see."

Jace clapped him on the shoulder. "Don't make him worry."

"I'll try."

"Good." Jace left him and went into his room closing the door behind him.

Donnell walked into the room and set down his things on his bed. Then he padded over to Duka's bed and sat down. Duka was flat on his back with his hands over his chest like a vampire in a coffin. He was sleeping so deeply, he was snoring with his mouth wide open. Donnell chuckled softly to himself before leaning over and placing a gentle kiss on his brother's forehead.

There was a creak and low groan. Dayquan half opened one eye without lifting his head from the pillow. "You're back."

"Yeah." Donnell stood and began to undress. "What I miss?"

Dayquan rubbed his face on his pillow. "The squirt had a nightmare and woke up cryin' and lookin' for you."

Startled, Donnell paused in his undressing. "Seriously? Jace didn't tell me all that."

"Mmm." Dayquan propped himself up on one arm. His eyes were open but he was barely there. His head bobbed forward a few times.

Donnell put his pajamas on. "Did Duka say what the dream was about?" Hearing nothing behind him, he turned and smacked his brother's shoulder. "Day. Wake up."

Dayquan jerked awake. "Hmm?"

"What did Duka say it was about?"

"He said something about you walkin' and got shot."" Dayquan leaned his head against the wall and closed his eyes. Blood. Lots of blood."

Donnell frowned.

"Probably watched a scary movie before bed or... somethin'." Dayquan slumped to the side and began to snore.

Rubbing his chin, Donnell gave Duka a deep look. It wasn't often had nightmares. Even if he had been watching a scary movie. He stood thinking for a moment before climbing into his bed. He'd just ask Duka about it in the moring.
