Clayton's POV
I looked at the clock on my dashboard and it read 10:00 AM. Fatigue was already setting in and I knew if I didn't stop and get coffee I wouldn't make it there. I pulled into a gas station and got a coffee before starting down the road again.
It was noon when I finally reached home and pulled into the driveway. My mom's car was still sitting there so I went and knocked on the door. After no reply I grabbed my key to the house out of my pocket and opened the door. I decided to go check on my brother first.
I walked into his bedroom and saw him laying down on his bed.
"How did you get stabbed?" I questioned my brother.
"Went onto another gang's territory and spraypainted over their symbol." he said sheepishly.
"Carter what the hell were you thinking you could have gotten yourself killed." I yelled at him.
"I'm fine, a hot chick stitched me up." he said with a smirk on his face.
"Whatever, I thought I told you to be careful. Where is mom?" I asked him.
"She left to the mall with the hot girl who saved me." my brother said.
At that moment I heard a car driving into the driveway. I figured it was my mom so I went to the kitchen to get some food. I heard voices from the front hallway and soon the voices entered the kitchen. In front was my mother with Leigh in her arms and next to her was Jessica with Elliot in her arms. My mouth fell open in shock. Jessica went pale and looked away.
"Clayton this is Jessica she saved your brother last night." my mother said with adoration clear in her voice.
"I know mom she went to school with me before she ran off." I said in a bitter tone.
"Oh." my mother said looking down.
"Jessica can we talk privately." I asked. She nodded her head and set down Elliot on the couch where my mother also sat with Leigh. I led her to the backyard and sat down on a bench.
"What the hell?" I yelled.
"What?" she said anger laced in her voice.
"You just get up and leave without telling anyone. Ella and Tris already lost Maverick they didn't need you to leave too." I yelled.
"I left for you guys my uncle doesn't care about you he wants to hurt me and I needed to protect you guys." she yelled back.
"Oh so you just run to my family to get them hurt." I yelled with hatred.
"I didn't know they were your family you never even talk about your personal life at all." she yelled.
"Sorry I don't want to share my whole life story with some girl who shows up in my life." I yelled.
"So now I'm just some girl, gee thanks." she said sarcastically.
"I didn't mean it like that Jess, you don't know how much you affected everyone when you left." I stated.
"I bet you were happy that I left." she said stubbornly.
"If you must know, I missed you okay." I yelled.
"What?" she said her voice wavering.
"Dammit Jessica don't you get it, I like you." I yelled.
"You do?" she asked clearly shocked.
"You are this crazy amazing girl who can kick someones ass and I feel like I barely even know you because anytime I get close you run away." I told her truthfully.
At that moment she did what she does best, she ran. I watched her run down the street. I had just told her the truth and she ran. I punched the shed wall and grabbed my keys out of my pocket heading to the nearest bar.

Jessica's POV
After Clayton admitted to liking me I didn't know what to do. I ran away as fast as I could and sat one a fallen tree. Why did things have to be so difficult. One moment everything was going as normal as it could and then the next my life was going in a downward spiral.
I walked back to the house and grabbed my fighting stuff. As soon as I got into town I found out where the fights were held. I headed into town and when I got there I changed into my disguise and went into the bar.
"I want to fight." I told the guy handling the fights.
"Sure you can fight Big Marco." he said chuckling. I shrugged my shoulders and got ready to fight.
The announcer announced my name and no one cheered. He also announced the guy I was fighting and the crowd roared. Big Marco was all muscle with an evil looking smile. I smirked at him and the fight was started.
I blocked the hits he sent to me and when he faltered I took my chance and round house kicked him in the face landing a uppercut to his jaw right after knocking him out cold. The crowd cheered and I got my money. I walked out to my truck and took off my disguise, when I looked out the front window standing there with his jaw hanging was none other than Clayton Marshall.
