Chapter 5 - "Overwhelmed."

Tanjiro actually came a bit early, arriving at 2' and 20". Y/N congratulated him as if he broke some kind of world record as a joke, making both of them laugh. The boy was actually running his way there so he was kind of out of breath for a bit, so they just stood there until he was fine to go back.

"So.. Come here often ?", Y/N said sarcastically while waiting for the other boy to get his breathing under control. Tanjiro just looked at him in a disappointed manner while panting, but soon enough he was alright again. "You a dumbass." the burgundy boy said playfully and signalled the other male to follow him, which he did.
On their way they had a small conversation, nothing interesting since they arrived at Tanjiro's place fairly quickly.

"Hey, by the way, I have 5 younger sibling and at least 3 of them might break your eardrums when they see you. They are small and they are easily excited, so don't be mad at their nature, they are all very kind." Tanjiro said unlocking the door, grinning at the other boy behind him as he pushed the door open. "I'm back, with a friend!" Tanjiro said kind of methodically as he entered, in the background could be heard squeals and the stomping of multiple sets of feet. As Y/N stepped in the house his leg was immediately hugged by a small boy. It was weird, but entertaining. "Rokuta ! You can't just hug our guests like that !" Said a familiar feminine voice. Nezuko grabbed the small boy's hand and detached him from Y/N. "Hey, Nezuko." the boy smilex sheepishly, earning a tight lipped smile from her. "Hello Y/N ! Didn't expect to see you there. I see you and Tanjiro are hitting if off well, huh ?" she said, almost a bit suggestively as she winked, weirding Y/N out a bit. He didn't see Tanjiro that way, but he definitely was a nice person he could get along very well with. "Nezuko, stop being weird ! God, talk about Rokuta weirding out guests and then do that ! Get a grip." A boy who looked like a younger version of Tanijiro with black hair spat at her. He didn't seem like he meant ill, but it had Nezuko blushing in embarrassment, looking down a bit when giggling with a hand over her mouth. "I'm sorry for her. I'm Takeo." he said and bowed politely. "I'm Y/N, pleased to meet you." the older boy said and bowed back. "Hello ! I'm Hanako ! Nice to meet you !" A small girl chimed, bowing at Y/N, earning a bow from him. "Nice to meet you, Hanako." he smiled and looked at a boy who was kind of hiding behind Tanjiro. "And him ?" Y/N said pointing at the small boy, he looked to be a bit younger than Takeo. "Oh, this is Shigeru. He's a bit shy around new people, don't mind him." His friend said, Y/N bowed at him nonetheless. "Nice to meet all of you. Uh, me and Tan are going to hang out somewhere alone I guess since he have to talk about stuff.." he said, trailing a bit while looking at the red-eyed boy. "Yes, of course. Let's just go upstairs to my room." He said and grabbed Y/N's wrist, quickly ascending the stairs while dragging the other boy behind him and into his bedroom, closing the door. "So,," Tanjiro said, pausing to look at the boy who had already made himself comfortable on his carpeted floor. "What happened ?" the burgundy asked, tilting his head at his friend in curiosity and concern. "Well, my father wouldn't let me stay at home. Not that I wanted to be near an aggressive, drunk, middle-aged man, but you get the point. He basically kicked me out and told me to go back to school. It was weird. 0/10, would not recommended." Y/N giggled at his own joke at the end, making Tanjiro laugh too, a bit awkwardly because he didn't know how to react in that situation. "Well, I'm sorry for that. You can stay over if you want, and if you ever wish to get away from him you can always pay us a visit ! I'm sure my siblings like you already so they won't mind." Tanjiro smiled reassuringly, placing his hand on the boy's shoulder. It gave Y/N this warm feeling. Like the one when you're so in love with someone you could die right then and there, but it wasn't because he was in love. It was because his new friend's kindness was so overwhelming it made him want to cry. It felt really nice actually trusting someone, he hadn't done so in years; constantly bottling up his feelings, taking it out aggressively on others a lot of the time. It was a nice change in his life, a change he was glad was made.

"Thank you, I'll keep that in mind." Y/N said, giving the burgundy boy a small smile in appreciation. "Now then ! Is there anything you'd like to do ? Maybe go out and get something to eat ? Or we can stay here and play videogames, but my siblings might be annoying about it, plus I think Shigeru and Takeo are already using the console, so nevermind.." Tanjiro said in realisation. "Uh, I don't have any money on me either since I kind of left in a rush, so nevermind that..." The h/c boy said in embarrassment. "That's fine ! I'll pay." His friend said and grinned, getting up to get some money. "No no no no ! No need. We can just stay in. I don't want you go be wasting your money away like that." The shorter boy argued, but it was too late already. "Nonesense ! I'm not going to miss it anyway. You need to be cheered up." Tanjiro said and pulled his friend up off the floor, not struggling much. "As long as you let me treat you next time instead.." Y/N said, looking at the other male. "I'm never going to let you do that, I thought you would have figured by now." the red-eyed said, giggling, while Y/N was looking at him with a deadpanned faced. "Yeah, right. I still will though." He said a bit competitively as they went downstairs.

"We're gonna go out ! Nezuko take care of the others while I'm outside ! If I come back to a mess you'll all have to clean it while I watch !" Tanjiro said again methodically but threateningly to his siblings, making them sweat a bit while looking at eachoter, and with that, they stepped outside. The weather was a bit chilly, but neither of them minded it. The cool air hitting your face can be relaxing and refreshing. "So, where are we gonna go?" Y/N asked, looking at his friend. "Gonna get ramen, I found a restaurant not too long ago that makes incredible ramen. Especially the spicy one. I went there with Zenitsu, Inosuke, Muichiro and my other friend Kanao about 2 months ago, or so. Great service, great food. Loved it. I'm sure you'll like it too." Tanjiro said excitedly while smiling a bit. "If the spicy ramen really is that good then I'm sure I will." (Idk if you don't like spicy ramen and like something else like sushi or some just imagine that's what it said c: ) The male said walking forward, following his friend, since he was the only one who knew where the restaurant was.

They finally made it, it was a bit further away from Y/N's house, from Tanjiro's it was about a 10-minute walk, but it really didn't feel like it took that long. "Well ! Here it is !" The burgundy boy pointed at a small restaurant, despite how old and small it looked, it had a bunch of customers inside eating the delicious-looking food. You could even smell the food from outside the store, it was truly awesome. They walked inside and looked for a table to sit, but they suddenly saw two familiar people there, talking to eachother while munching sushi and other goodies. "Oh, hey guys ! Didn't think I'd see you there !" Tanjiro said, walking up to his two friends; it was Zenitsu and Muichiro. Y/N remained frozen in place, wide eyed, staring at his childhood best friend blatantly ignoring him. 'What the hell.'
