Chapter Twenty-Seven

The light beamed through my bedroom window waking me up. I sat up in my bed feeling awful. I don't know what it could be.

I have this weird feeling something's not right. I look at the time (11:57). I get up and goto my dads room, he isn't here. I haven't heard from him in 2 days. I go back to my room and call my uncle, it went straight to voicemail. I frown and call my grandma, hers too.

Man what the hell. Something just ain't right.

I call Norfolk police department to see if he was there. What? He got a hot temper. They said he's not there or in the system. Now i'm worried. What if he left me.

I have one option left, I call the hospital (Norfolk General) I bit my nails and my legs was shaking as I waited for the phone to be answered.

Phone Convo

???: Thank you for calling Norfolk General Hospital, How may I help you today?

Me: Hi, I'm looking to see if my dad if there?

???: What's his name sweetheart?

Me: Kai Beach

???:Give me a moment......

I hear her typing..

???: Ok sweety yes he is

My heart started pounding. "Is he ok?"

???: Um.... How old are you?

"21" I lie.

???: Ok ma'am since you are the appropriate age then I can tell you. Um, Im sorry but Mr. Beach was shot 9 times around 5 am this morning, he's in surgery right now as we speak.

My heart sank, I could feel myself about to pass out, NOBODY fucking bothered to call and tell me!!!!

???: "Ma'am, are you still there?"

I dropped the phone and threw on some sweats and a hoodie and my fire bred Jordan's. I picked my phone up and threw it in my pocket and raced down the stairs, tears streamed from my eyes clouding my vision!

I snatched my dad's keys to his Mercedes and ran to the garage. The door opened as I started the car!

I know how to drive because I used to steal my mom car and go for joy rides while she was sleep.

I sped out, I was on the interstate less that 2 minutes doing 110 mph! I don't give a flying fuck. The only thing on my mind is getting to my dad! My heart! My everything!!!

Ripping down the highway I see a police officer pull up behind me going about 90 tryna catch up. Nigga I play grand theft auto! Fuck you mean. I weaved in and out of the traffic getting off on the exit near the hospital.

The police officer got stuck behind a garbage truck on the interstate. I sped to the hospital, parked, grabbed my dads gun out the glove compartment and jumped out!

I ran in up to the nurses station.

"What room is Kai Beach in?" I quickly asked the nurse sitting behind the desk.

"How old are you?"

"BITCH WHAT FUCKING ROOM IS MY DAD IN!!!!" I yell.

She smacked on her gum and cocked her head looking at me sideways. Oh this bitch wanna play.

I pull out my dad's gun and put it to her forehead. "What room, last time!!" I growl.

She quickly began typing. "R-R-Room 327 m-m-ma'am"

I tucked it back in my waistband and ran to the elevator taking it to the 3rd floor. I got off and ran down the hall.

"ROSY WAIT!!!" My grandma yells coming out of the visitors waiting room area.

I ignored her and saw the doctors and nurses coming out of room 327, I dashed in stopping in my tracks as I got to the side of his bed. He had big tubes coming out of his nose and mouth, big bandages on his neck, chest, wrist, and stomach. He looked horrible.

Tears streamed from my eyes. "Daddy????" I croaked. My throat dryed up and my heart dropped, I climbed on the bed sitting on my knees careful not to touch him.

"Daddy????!!! Wake up, please!" I begged.

He didn't move. I layed down on my side next to him, I leaned up and kissed his cheek.

"I need you Daddy, you said you'd never leave me again, I love you!" I cried Uncontrollably.
