Days upon the Finalizer tended to blend together in the absence of Kylo Ren, thought General Hux as he'd go through each day cycle without a member of his bridge waving him over to inform him of new damage done to his beloved ship. Not like he was complaining. He found himself as relaxed as any General could be running the First Order, going to meetings and signing off on paperwork for new star destroyers to come without a constant headache that had somehow had a position of power. Hux, against his better judgment, had become content for the period of time that Ren would be on some water-back planet in the outer rim, barely even acknowledging the mention of the younger's name as it would be mentioned in a briefing. This is what Hux was used to, this worry-free feeling that would be wrapped around his shoulders every time the knight would board his ship and disappear briefly afterwards.

So, only naturally, he was confused as to why that stopped happening at some point. Well, he did have a faint idea of when the dynamic changed.

Supreme Leader Snoke had put a leash on his hound, pulling Kylo Ren to a far off planet where he was to finish his training and finally fill his place as co-commander of the Finalizer. Hux had even scoffed at the idea of Ren returning and actually sitting down to attend a briefing involving the financial issues of the First Order. Snoke had kept Ren for approximately three standard months, much longer than any mission the knight had been instructed to go on in the past; thus making the result even more anticipated by not only the General but the whole crew onboard the star destroy. So when the day came, Hux stood beside Captain Phasma (with a few troopers) in the remote Hanger B as Ren's ship docked, waiting to see the result of their Supreme Leader's hard work.

Kylo Ren descended down the ramp of his ship, still clad in his usual attire but his helmet was tucked neatly under his elbow as he marched up to stand opposite his co-commander. Even though it had been three months, Ren seemed to have aged as he grew slightly into his features more and his hair had grown about two inches longer- reaching the length of his shoulders now. Additionally, where young skin covered his face, he now had a large scar that crossed his right cheek and stopped just above his eyebrow; it appeared to have been the result of a lightsabre cauterising the skin. Captain Phasma and her stormtroopers has swiftly saluted him the moment he stopped which allowed Hux to come back from the analytic state he was in.

"Ren," Hux spoke first, his tone as bland and vague as usual.

"Hux," Ren replied in-turn as he gave the General a quick one-over before speaking again, "I believe the Supreme Leader has briefed you on my intentions of fulfilling my role as the co-commander of the Finalizer. I hope we can both do our jobs and forget about any previous quarrels we may have had."

It was as if time stopped in that moment. Not only did General Hux seem to loose his cold composure to replace it with that of astonishment, the knight's words had even stirred the same shock in the stoic Captain beside them as her helmet slowly turned as if to look at the pair. Hux quickly slapped himself mentally and nodded stiffly in response to Ren.

"I believe we can do that."

"Well, I look forward to working with you, General."

Two utterly terrifying sentences spoken by someone who was known for nothing close to polite and well-mannered.
