Grand General Hux always knew he'd fall in love, it was just a matter of who. But upon finding out it is the Supreme Leader, Kylo Ren, he begins to find himself out of character. Worst of all, he finds himself stuck in an elevator with that very man when the systems onboard the ship begin to malfunction due to ongoing repairs.

Who.

Not how, not where, not when. Who. The stoic General Hux always knew that he'd eventually find himself wanting to devote all of his emotions to someone else. After all, not all emotions could be suppressed like the ones he had already mastered during his lifetime. During his time as a cadet, as well as other roles leading up to being a General, he had bared witness to his peers growing intimate with one another; some even managing to sustain such a loving connection that some stand before him, on his bridge, with a gold band around one of their fingers.

As of recent times, Armitage Hux's career had a staggering point as his old co-commander, Kylo Ren, murdered Supreme Leader Snoke and took his place as the new Supreme Leader of The First Order. When Hux had sworn his allegiance to Ren in a desperate attempt of saving his life, he had expected the ex-knight to have demoted him and sent him to the far edges of the galaxy for him to do some meaningless task. But, on the contrary, Kylo Ren had promoted Hux to Grand General and made sure the ginger was involved in key decision-making within The Order, keeping him no further than arms-distance. From this promotion came a peace between the two men, where they no longer fought over silly differences and instead found a solution that satisfied them both. This benefited the pair and The Order, making it more efficient and creating a more pleasant work environment for all the staff. 

Almost two basic years later, The First Order now ruled the galaxy. They had either taken the planets by storm, their military now at peak performance, or they had taken the diplomatic route and gained their favour. Almost everything Hux had planned out for himself was in motion. He was almost happy. 

As Grand General Hux stood at the front of the bridge on board the Supremacy, he stared through the observation window down at the lush-green planet below. Arkanis. His home planet. Hux mulled over the mental list he had created, ticking off all the boxes of things he had planned to take place throughout his life, a sense of pride filling the bottom of his stomach as he acknowledged each moment throughout his thirty-five years of life. But once he reached the end of this list, there remained only one box unticked. 

'Who.'

The word stood out to him. He knew what he had meant all those years ago when he came to accept the fact he'd fall for another person in his life. Cadet Hux had hoped it would occur during his military training, where he could deny himself such a pleasure and pretend it wasn't there till it wasn't. But those days were over and he still hadn't felt this elated feeling, this feeling of 'an all-consuming love' Mitaka had put it, for anyone. Mitaka and Phasma were the only people he knew personally that had eloped. They had done it right when the war ended, taking their newfound freedom in a tight grasp and acting upon it. Hux had attended, of course, offering his support for his friends; after all, he'd watched them separately fall in love with one another. 

As Hux turned away from the view of his home planet, pushing away memories too sore to recall, he walked himself back to his quarters. While Hux may now partly control most of the galaxy, he still found himself calling a ship his home, taking comfort in the steady sound of the engine humming away beneath him.
