Prompt: 5)Throwing their arms around the other person's neck, hugging them close before kissing them passionately on the lips.
Description: Lord Ren and a large group of troops and officers were sent away on a risky mission. Hux told himself all would go well, and most would return to base after a week. But when a week passes and it slides into two, the word fear falls short compared to the feeling that encapsulates the General and the remaining crew.
This is possibly the most tooth-rotting fluff I've ever written.
-----
They were overdue by a week.
When you exist in a galaxy where the enemy lurks in the inky darkness all around and the mission has a low survival rate- this is astronomically bad.
Supreme Leader Snoke and his council decided they needed to overthrow an inner-rim planet to gain their valuable resources to aid The Order in their final push against the Resistance. Hux had been given full power over the operation and planned out how everything would take place. But as he did so, he began realising that the rates of survival were low, that their mission will be successful, but at what cost?
The mission required several platoons of stormtroopers, a handful of high and low-ranking officers and Lord Kylo Ren himself; The last of which was the General's main concern.
Over the last year and a half, the two commanders had become lovers after a long-overdue argument to make them confess their feelings. They had kept their relationship strictly private out of Hux's desire to remain professional in front of his crew, now because he was embarrassed about Kylo (this was assured to the knight through soft words and tracing words of affection on their skin in the late of the night). While they may have never said the three sacred words, they didn't feel it was necessary because they both felt as though it was a goodbye. Felt as though the words were meant as a parting on the chance they may never see each other again, which is why Kylo said it before he left.
They stood in one of the meeting rooms adjoining the hangar where many ships were being readied for departure, the two wrapped around each other and just basking in their presence for their remaining time. Kylo had pulled his head out from the crook of Hux's neck and looked down at the ginger with a sad lopsided smile. "I love you," the words came out soft, almost a whisper, but they still hurt Hux.
He raised his hands to cup the knight's face, eyes fleeting from each feature, "Don't say that. Don't say those words."
"Why not?"
"It means I won't see you again. That you won't return to me," Hux whispered desperately, fighting hard against the water daring to slip from his eyes, "So I won't say it back. I'm not saying goodbye."
But oh how he wished he had, how he wished he said those words as Kylo kissed him goodbye and got onto his ship with the remaining officers.
The first week had sailed by and they had received updates of their mission at every designated interval, updating them on their success so far. As expected, the planet's military had put up a good fight, resisting giving in and launching their attacks. All seemed well for a while, with no indication of anything going wrong until they suddenly stopped getting updates and all communication was lost by the end of their set time.
All staff were instantly doing double time, searching every signal and piecing together a story as to why they may have stopped their transmissions. Hux began to worry that his statistics were wrong, that he had messed up and led his soldiers into a trap. Additionally, staff around him were also in committed relationships with people he had sent on the mission, making his guilt worsen at the prospect that he not only sent his lover to his death but theirs also.
