she stared at her kneepads , the smell of the gym clouding her nose. the only two things she could think of was confessing to you after the game with a clean victory.

beidou noticed her distress and gave her a confident smile. "nervous aren't ya ? don't worry , we'll win this game and also get you a date too ! two birds with one stone." she said , wrapping her arm around her shoulder.

one more round and the game ends. then it's her teams turn to face shiratorizawa.

across the gym on the bleachers was the enemy team , their purple uniforms standing out and practically screaming superior. the captain was tall and built well. her eyes gleaming with competition.

and among the guest seats were you , with that oh so cute smile that made ayaka want to squeal and cry at your beauty.

you noticed her staring and gave her a wave. she waved back , feeling a little less nervous. she let out a lovestruck sigh.

the team got up from the seats and made their way down towards the entrance of the gym. ayaka felt her heart beat pound in her ears , anxiety pooling in her stomach. the rest of her teammates were able to feel the pressure the moment they stepped into the court.

various grey flags were hung up , many students wearing their school colors and chanting out for their teams. on one side was a royal purple , and the other an independent grey.

her team couldn't help but smile when they eyed a few friends among the crowd.

tohma , yoimiya , kazhua , and gorou were proudly smiling at ayaka , holding batons and flags in the air. even kokomi was there , although she was busy with college. her salmon pink hair stood out among the crowd. the members of the student council and male volleyball team were also keenly watching.

ayaka looked over the net to see the captain of shiratorizawa. she couldn't remember her name , but only memorized her piercing gaze and straight black hair.

beidou nodded , extending her hand to shake the other. she wore a smug smile. "yep ! let's see how it goes."

as everyone stood in a neat line and bowed before the opposite team , ayaka could feel your gaze on her.

"thank you for this game !"

and then , the whistle blew.

ayaka's sweaty hands rested on her knees , chest heaving up and down. she was taking the middle of back row as libero , her uniform standing out more than the rest.

21 points till game. the score's 20:20 , and the server was of the opposite team.

she was tall , even taller than beidou. she was opposite hitter and vice captain of shiratorizawa. with tanned skin and short white hair , she was clearly one of the strongest in the whole team.

ayaka's team setter looked at ayaka with a nod. sweat glistened on her face and she wiped it quickly , adrenaline rushing from her legs to head.

the server hit the ball , a loud bang echoing through the gym. her form was perfect , extended arms and body jumping high.

and oh archons it was going right towards ayaka.

she squatted , arms stretched out to recieve the ball. a sudden stinging pain hit her skin and she winced. the ball went up towards the sky , the setter running over to set it up for beidou.

"beidou !"

the brown-haired beauty smiled as if she knew that they would win the game. her eyes stared towards the ball before hitting it to the opposite court.

and she was right. the ball flung towards the line but wasn't out , a whistle signaling that teyvat academy as officially won the game.

"we did it !"

ayaka could hear the crowd scream alongside the team in victory. she smiled , embracing her members in a tight hug. it didn't matter to her if everyone was sweaty or tired , but in that very moment she felt so alive she could live off with no dreams.
