the sound of paper thwacking tohma's head filled the room. in response , he rubbed his forehead and made a dramatic pouting face. a desperate gleam filled his amber eyes.

"ow ! please no more... i'll get the next question right ok ?!" he whined. everyone snickered.
you and your friends sat in ayaka's room (which was actually quite big) around her table , papers stacked on top of papers and pencils everywhere. school bags were neatly laid on the ground and a few school blazers hung on the chairs. tohma sat across from you , giving you an advantage on smacking him with rolled paper tubes.
"sorry , but dumb people don't have rights."
he gasped. "what ?! but i want my rights !"
you rested an arm on the chair , legs spreaded wide and the other arm lifting up the paper. "well guess you can't have them anymore." he narrowed his eyes.
"... is it because i'm friends with a ginger ?"
"... you tell me."
he stared at you and you stared at him back.
gorou awkwardly chuckled , passing around review papers frantically. his ears flopped around. "uhm anyways , can we get started on the next subject ?"
"yeah sure."
"yep !"
kazuha let out a sigh the moment his eyes read the words 'english grammar review'. actually , everyone kind of seemed down the moment the word 'english' popped up on the paper.
ayaka scanned the sheet and picked up her pencil. "i suppose if we all worked together on this one , it'll help us understand english more." you nodded.
"well then..." kazuha started off. "...'what is the difference between a verb and a noun ?'" he read out loud. everyone fell silent. the only thing they could hear was the tap tap of gorou's brown tail.
"isn't it like... verb is an action word and noun is a thing ?" gorou said. tohma perked up. "yeah ! v-verb.... ugh... why is that so hard to pronounce ?!"
ayaka hummed. "what mr.koro said was that we should bite down our lip gently and make a noise out of it instead of pursing our lips." she then proceeded to show everyone , her cherry-pink lips emitting a perfect 'v' sound.
"she's fucking good at this !" kazuha , gorou , and you screamed mentally , as if thunder was crashing in the background.
"hah , i won't give up so easily !" tohma declared and smugly puffed his chest. "i bet i'll say it perfectly my first try !" he said. you raised a brow.
"alright then , do it."

he attempted to bite his lip like ayaka did , except his brow was raised and only one side was actually being bitten down. his voice sounded like an angry bee protecting its hive.
you visibly choked.
"pff- BAHHAHAHAHA YOU LOOK LIKE A WHOLE FUCKING SCHOOL DELINQUENT- IS IT BECAUSE YOUR FRIENDS WITH CHILDE ?!" you exclaimed. even kazuha let out a laugh on that one.
"shut up i'm trying my best !"
"sure... now keep on trying tohma , and hopefully no girls would be screaming when they look at the face your making !"
the sound of a camera went off. it was gorou with his phone.
"you guys- you meanies !"

in the end , we couldn't really get that much done.
it was now just you and ayaka in her home. everyone left , and you were just about to as well. you stood at her door and picked up your blazer and school bag.
"well see you tommorow ayaka."
she squirmed around. there was obviously something she wanted to ask of you. ever since you were kids , she had a habit of making this motion with her legs , rubbing them together and fiddling with her fingers when she wanted something from you.
you smiled and spoke with a melodic tune. "ayaka..."
"yes ?"
you smirked. "there's something you want to ask me rightttt ?"
the blue-haired girl tensed up. "uhm- no of course ! anywaysithinkyoushouldhurryandgohomesinceit'sgettingreallylateeventhoughitwouldbeniceifyouspentthenighther-"
all those years of ayaka rambling to you paid off.
"ohh so you want me to sleepover ? well you could have just asked ! we're best friends." you said. she blanked out and gave you a stare.
"r-really ?"
"yeah."
her usual calm and strong voice sounded awfully fragile. "okay... you can go back and get your things-"
you furrowed your brows. "ayaka , i already have the things i need at your house since we always sleepover all the time. no worries."
her eyes were still blank. no thoughts head empty. "oh yeah."
strange , we always slept over without warning yet she seems so nervous today.

you then realized that you had a literal crush on ayaka.
