CHAPTER FOURTEEN
"Tara said she pregnant and it's mine." Ace admitted to his mom, Mama Mae. He wasn't ready for this talk but he needed a clear mind to deal with the situation properly.
Mae stared at him for a moment before mumbling a 'hmph' under her breath. She reached back and slapped Ace upside the back of his head, pointing her finger at him. "You knew better, Ace Tysheem Banks."
"Damn, ma." Ace complained, rubbing his head with his twists still swinging from her hit.
Mae reached back again and Ace flinched, moving away from her. "Don't be cursing in my house, you know better than that too."
"Sorry, ma." He apologized, still rubbing the back of his head. He stood taller than Mae by a foot and she still intimidated him. "I need help, I don't know what to do."
"You're going to take care of that child and cater to her, if she decides to keep the baby."
"I don't want a baby, especially not from Tara. I told her I'd give her the money for the abortion and that set her off. I said some real low down shit to her."
Mae sighed, taking a seat next to her son. "I'm too old to still be giving you advice on that girl. I told you if you didn't want to marry her, you don't have sex with her. When you lay down with somebody, you choose wisely. These are the consequences of your actions." She lectured and he just picked at his the frayed hem of his pants. "Tara had so much trouble growing up and you go and throw her past in her face. That's not right, Ace."
"I know, mama. It's just that it's her. I don't want my child to be from Tara. She's crazy." Ace stressed to his mother.
"Clearly you did if you were willing to lay with her. You laid with her unprotected now you have a child on the way," Mae clutched her chest. "And she's not crazy as you make her to be. You give her reason."
Now, Ace was looking at his mom like she was the crazy one. "You can't be serious?"
"I mean, she does have a few loose screws but you hear me. You cannot go messing with her head and involving her in your life where you want her. You want her all in sometimes and other times you treat her like shit, I never taught you that."
